A Question to Santhan
Hi Santhan,
First I would like to ask you the following question: what is the purpose of posting our french translations on the translator forum at:
http://www.heavenletters.org/heavenletters-french ?
It seems to me that it is a duplicate of creating the translation on the www.heavenletters.org/letter-of-the-day. There is certainly a purpose for that, which I ignore.
But if it has to be maintained, would it be possible to post our translations of ‘not yet published Heavenletters” in advance in the french translators forum? The reason is that Jean-Christophe and I travel quite often internationally mostly in the Middle-East and Asia. We often get (at least I do) into situations where the Internet connections are too slow, or sometimes we have to use the computers supplied by the hotels and the Internet stations are always busy. Then we have to carry with us on paper the necessary URLs to access the different URL to perform the complete task of posting and sending emails to the subscribers. And you know that these URL are long to type.
The big advantage of posting our translations “in advance” on the french translators forum is that when there is an emergency for a prompt intervention, Jean-Christophe and I can just advise each other that one of the two of us could insure the mailing of the Heavenletter just by going on http://www.heavenletters.org/heavenletters-french and do the process of posting and mailing the translation (with OEM french and the Conscious People application).
What do you think?
Cheers
Normand

I think it's genius! Yes, go
I think it's genius! Yes, go ahead Normand. Only make sure that the translations are of Heavenletters that have been published.
In answer to your first question, the practice of posting translations on the forums came from the old website before we had the functionality of relating a translated Heavenletter with the original English, like we have on this website. Our plan for the upgrade is to export all the translated Heavenletters on the forum and automatically associate them with the original English translation at one fell swoop.

So it implies that our
So it implies that our translations would be visible before the related English Heavenletter is openly published. I'm pretty sure nobody who understands French would venture so far in the forum, so is that ok for you?
But, anyway, JC, why should
But, anyway, JC, why should the french readers go to the french translators forum to see the original translation? As a matter of fact, the link that appears at the bottom on the french translation sends to the original English Heavenletter. Of course, they could go to the french translations' forum to see the previous HL.
But then, this becomes a helpless situation for us. If the french readers can read in french the unpublished Heavenletters in English, they will appear as Gloria's mind readers!
But definitely something has to be done soon to disconnect the french readers from this old database. And definitely, they have to be migrated to the central translation database.
Santhan, you are our only hope!
???
Your answer : " Yes, go ahead Normand. Only make sure that the translations are of Heavenletters that have been published." confuses me totally because we are talking precisely of the Heavenletters that have not yet been published.
My request is really to post on the french translators' forum the translations of the HL that have not been published. Otherwise, it is useless.
Since, as you say, the translation posting comes from the old website, it should not have any impact (am I right?) on the otherside (I mean the site where the unpublished HL are stocked) :
http://www.heavenletters.org/heavenletters-admin.html
The translators' forum database seems more like a repository. Since we post also our translations on the http://www.heavenletters.org/heavenletters-admin.html, do you still have to import the translations from the old web site? There's something I am missing here.
I need more explanations.
Beloveds, I know of one good
Beloveds, I know of one good use for the Translation page as it is. Two, actually.Three! The translation section of the forum is very helpful to me.
When a new subscriber has come to us and wants to subscribe to a language that no longer is actively translated, I send them to that page where they can easily find all the translations we have in Hebrew or Catalan, just as an example.. I have to emphasize that this is an easy way for me and for the subscriber. It couldn't be easier. This page eases it for me. Rather than say to a new subscriber only that I'm sorry we don't have a translator now, I can make it more uplifting to point the new subscriber to a page where he can find all the translations we have in that language. I give the new subscriber the link.
The second way I use that page is to sometimes help me identify the translator. I happen to remember the Hebrew and Catalan translators who became inactive very well. But there are a few languages where there may have been many different translators and the translator may list himself by a user name, and I am not sure who that user name refers to any longer. I can press the user name and go to their profile, and usually figure it out and get in touch with the translator.
Also, sometimes I just like to look at the continuing translators translations, feast my eyes on how many there are. Doing this really brings the beauty of translators and their translations home to me.
Normand and Jean-Christophe and anyone else, I understand why it would be helpful to you to have it the way you want it. Heaven Admin will do everything to make this work for you.
But, meanwhile, please know that the trouble you go to post your translations is not for nothing. It is very valuable for me. And, of course, it's possible that what you desire will also work beautifully for my needs as well. But, anyway, the most important thing is that you are given everything you want -- as much as it can possibly be done -- so that your work is made comfortable for you and that you know how important you are to Heavenletters and feel strong support.
Heaven Admin's whole life is about service.
Finally, without this
Finally, without this migration, it seems that we will pick the card: "Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200"!
Sorry for that Santhan. We are hooked to your brain!
Dear Santhan
Jean-Christophe and I still have to hear from you if you mind our posting in advance of translations of the "not yet published Heavenletters" on the french forum.
If it is a problem, could you create a space where we could post them?
Thanks
Thanks for your patience
Thanks for your patience guys. Here's what we do for now...
Go ahead and post the translations to the forum, only mark them as unpublished.
Create Forum Topic -> Publishing options -> turn off "Published"
I changed the permissions on both Normand's and JC's accounts so that you will be able to access and edit unpublished content. This way you guys can use the French forum as a repository to store all your translations.
Does this help?

The Invisible Translators
Thank so much Santhan for your precious help. It really makes a difference for us. Just this past weekend, traveling from Perth to Brisbane I had a problem with the local IP Provider. I had to send a SOS message to Jean-Christophe asking him to post and email Sunday and Monday Heavenletters. They were already on the French translator forum.
When JC will be in India next month, I will do the same for him.
Peace of cake.
Thanks again.
Just think of what
Just think of what volunteers do. They give everything. Here are just three examples from these three people. How well they take care of Heavenletters. They take total responsibility. And, of course, they are not the only ones. I tell you, many volunteers make me feel just the way that God does -- all is taken care of, all is well.
There is a long list of volunteers to be so grateful to.
Publishing Options
Dear Santhan,
I don't see any "Publishing options" button when I create a Forum Topic.
Hi Normand &
Hi Normand & Jean-Cristophe,
This version of Drupal does not give us the fine grained permission settings I thought it did. Instead, I upped the permissions on both your accounts to "Editors" which allows you to edit any page on this site. The publishing options should now appear below any forum topic you create.

Dear Santhan
now I can see a new check box entitled: Published with a check mark (√) in the check box. So I figure that if I uncheck it, then it won't be visible to the public. Am I right?
And also, we have access to the delete button!!!!
Thanks, beloved One Love.
buttons
Ah, you have access to the buttons' room! Would you be so kind to delete my ego? Just one click.
delete
I can only offer to push your buttons, cara.
a risk
Then do not push the wrong ones risking to duplicate me.
On the other hand, who but
