Your Life Stands on Happiness
Each individual on Earth has his share of happiness, yet some are blessed with greater happiness and others blessed with less happiness. From the outside, some lives are catastrophic, and some are sensational. And yet each life is its own and precious. I would like to offer applause to life in its good times and in its hard times.
Notice My use of the word time. As soon as you see the word time, you can know that it is life in the relative world that is being talked about. Talking about life in the relative world has its limits. You know what I mean. Life in the world is listed as happy or unhappy, full or less full, long or short, good or hard. In the relative world, even hard can be good.
We can say that, underlying the shenanigans of the extant world, is a straight line of such great joy that, at present, you are unable to hold on to this foundation of happiness. This foundation underlies you, and yet you imagine it is out of reach. You long to reach and to be established on the plank which you already stand on. It is like looking for your eyeglasses when they are right on your nose.
If your life stands on happiness, why then is happiness so deeply sought? Sometimes you feel like the child at Christmas who finds a lump of coal in his stocking while all the other stockings seem to be filled with candy canes. Why does one stocking of life seem to be full of happiness easy to see, and another's filled with suffering also easy to see? And yet each person has life that lies on a foundation of joy greater than you can get a handle on.
Beloveds, do you know that measuring happiness is a form of judgment? In the extant world, those who seem to have enormous happiness and reason for happiness also have hearts that go up and down, sometimes to great heights and sometimes to great lows. No matter how much happiness there is in the extant world, it is fleeting. It is a butterfly in your hand, or even a mighty tiger that you cannot keep.
So, happiness in the world, is weighed when there is no scale to weight it on.
Someone imprisoned, someone with severe illness, someone with liabilities, someone who is a so-called commoner can have greater happiness than the most promising king.
I am telling you that everyone's Christmas stocking is filled to overflowing.
I know that is hard for you to swallow when you see unfulfillment seemingly everywhere. I know it is unbelievable to you.
Perhaps. substitute God's Light for the word happiness. Everyone has his full share of My light. Anything less than the fullness of My light is a cover-up. What you see is not always what you've got.
The beggar, the madman, the benefactor all share My Light. No one has more than another. No one has less. My Light within some of My children is easier to see than others. It may be that they shine it more. It may be that your vision is brighter.
Beloveds, what if you started from the premise that all hearts are lighted? Would you then be looking for signs of that rather than happiness or unhappiness? Might you not then find that which you are looking for? And would you not see your own gift of My light shining from your heart? There is a light switch in your heart. Turn it on. Someone put a dimmer switch there. Not I. Turn the dimmer switch up high. Keep turning it higher and higher.
