How beautiful it is to begin your day with "Dear God"! Say:

"Dear God, here I am, and here You are, and here We are.

"A day appears before me, and You accompany me. We walk in the day. It is here for Us, just as We are here for it.

"The day is a friend who puts an umbrella over me and allows me to walk under it. A day is a fluttering page in my book of life. It is a page I turn. It appears before me, and You, God, give me passage through it.

"Today is an avenue You have set before me. This avenue may seem like a furtive back street, or it may be lined with trees and seem like a grand palisade. In the sense that I am on this avenue, it is mine.

"So, this day is mine. It was given to me. It was given me to walk through.

"I am glad for the day I am in. I acknowledge it as a great gift from a Great Giver who gives great love to me.

"My dearest God, You teach me only giving. I have been in the habit of demanding from my day and have forgotten my contribution to it. How careless of me!

"Today let this lovely alley of my day be wide open for me. Let me be wide open to it. I will distribute apple blossoms on this day. I will not kick stones and prefer another day over this one. For this is my day today, and it is the day You have given to me to do with as I will. May Your Will be mine.

"I may not be able to change today's contents. I may be short-visioned and not see where this day leads, but I do have say over my gait.

"I am the one whose steps cover this day. I am the one who greets this day, and at the end of it, as it and I part company, I am the one to say goodbye to it. Today is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I acknowledge the blossoming of this day, and I acknowledge its closing. And I acknowledge that I am the one who walks through it.

"I will wrest from this day all it contains, and I will look upon this day as a friend. This day is a part of my life, and from this day forward, I will consider my life a treasure.

"Today is just one day. My life is made of many. Days are offered to me like wells. I dip in and drink. Some days the well seems dry. Other days it seems overflowing. But this is my well, and I do not chastise it, for It is as innocent as I am.

"My choice is to treat my day kindly. It may be an imperfect day, but it is my only one today, and I will not disparage it. I will treat it well and bring out the best in it. My day is like an unseasoned employee that I give a chance to. I do not react hastily. I do not know what lies at the end of it. I do not yet know what it is worthy of.

"I shall bless this day as it comes to me. It is not just another day. It is like no other. It has its job to do, as I have mine.

"Let me engage this day, and make it holy. I am the maker of this day that I thank You for."
