The Turtle Leaves Its Shell
The world has the idea that death of the body is an unfortunate occurrence, a terrible thing. That is a limitation of the world, and one that contributes to great suffering.
The world says that the death of a body is a tragic event. You grew up with the idea that death of the body is not right, that it should not happen.
Everyone in the world is attached to physical life, theirs and others, which amounts to being attached to the existence of the body. Not only is the world attached to the concept of body, youth of the body has also become a feature, and aging of bodies, after a certain point, is remiss. The physical is almost everything to you, beloveds. You relate to the physical.
In order to connect with you, I speak of holding your hand. I speak of Our embrace. There is a relationship with the physical. It is very dear to you, and so I speak of Our closeness. Of course, Our closeness is irrelevant of the body.
There is the physical material world, and there is the spiritual immaterial world. If I could think of another word for spiritual, I would. As it is, the words eternal, infinite, immortal, spiritual and Oneness will have to do.
The soul is housed in a body for a certain length of time. The turtle leaves its shell and keeps going. The shell is not the turtle.
What you call death, what you find sorrowful, is truly a cause for celebration. Birth of the body is celebrated, and that is wonderful, yet everyone knows that the body is an appearance, an appearance that does not last forever. Even one hundred years in Earth time is a minute.
Bodies die. Your body will fall away. Everyone’s body. This is not a punishment. This is not a disregard for life. That which is you is not thrown away.
To you, the death of the body is an enormous unholy happening. I am telling you that it is a holy event. Shackles are removed. It could be said that death is your get-out-of-jail-free card. I do not want life on Earth to be considered imprisonment, and yet in death you become wholly free. Death of the body is worthy. With the death of the body, when the body is left behind, the soul, which is always free, is freed from human bondage. No longer is there heartache because no longer is there the attachment that you presently suffer from.
In what is called death, the whole configuration of life changes. But there is no death, beloveds.
When I say there is Eternal Life, I mean there is Eternal Life. Those who are dear to you who have left their bodies behind, they have moved out of Earth and have become full-time in Heaven. They are not retired. It is more like the way you might move to California for a new job. And yet the idea of moving anywhere is an illusion, as life on Earth is an illusion. Yet the illusion of death is held onto very dearly.
There is nothing to hold onto, beloveds. I know you will mourn your loved ones. You will even mourn those you hardly know. There is something in you that latches on to the humanness of those who are on Earth with you and those who have left. Humanness is a wonderful passage, and yet it is only a passage, much like a hallway. Now, with death of the physical, your loved ones transport themselves beyond the hallway and fully enter Vastness. Be glad for your beloveds who leave one dimension for another. They do not leave you. Their love does not leave you. Now they love without attachment, and so must you.
Your friend has moved on. Your friend continues her journey. What she was to fulfill on Earth, she has fulfilled. There was nothing more for her to do on the plane of Earth life. Regardless of what the world might say, there is no life unfinished, and there is no life finished either. Your friend has been promoted. She is welcome and honored where you, too, one day will be welcomed and honored as well. You too will be blessed by death of the body, the body which is, after all, as it has been said, dust.
