The Field of Peace
Peace outweighs disturbance, but you have let disturbance outweigh peace. If peace is a field, how can a poppy or grass that grows disturb it? They just are there, whereas the field underlies all. Your mind has wandered from the field of peace. It has latched onto every breeze that blows. You have let any gale jostle your sense of peace. Peace is your natural inheritance; disturbance isn't. Perhaps you have mistakenly thought that you are on Earth to be overwhelmed by what transpires.
If the field is overgrown with grass, still you walk through it. Whatever may grow in the field, it is the field under your feet. It is the field that supports all. Must you pay so much attention to every ruffling of the grass that grows? Must every stone or branch underfoot make you trip? Must you be bedazzled by discomfort rather than by ease?
Will you, once and for all, choose benefit over disturbance? What advantage has there ever been to allowing a passing thing to shake your sense of well-being?
Walk with the grace of God and know that you walk with the grace of God. Grace I bestow upon you. Have the grace to accept Mine.
You are a long-distance runner. You are not a sprinter. You pass by trees and fences as you run, but they are not interference unless you have decided they are in the way. Of course, they have the right to be there just as much as you. Are not the trees and fences along the way markers of how far you have traveled? Are you not gaining? Have you not traveled quite a distance, and have you not grown? Give yourself accolades rather than disturbance.
You are a participant in life. What more can you be? You do not need to win every bet. How pointless that would be! But you are always in the running. You are a candidate. Other runners follow you. Others you follow. What is the difference? You are on the same course, and you go in the same direction.
You winnow your way through life. That is enough. And you gravitate higher. You are ever moving upward. Whatever turn you take, you are going upwards. You are rising. And now you rise higher. Now you leap over disturbances. What do they have to do with you really? They are not the making nor the undoing of you. They are just there. Without you, they are nothing at all. You consign them to be what they are.
If anything interferes with your life, it has to be you. How you look at things makes all the difference in the world. Your perception is key.
When you perceive that life is a struggle, you will indeed struggle. If you think you have to wrestle with life, you will have many opportunities. If you perceive life as a lake you swim across, you will swim across it. If you perceive that there is treasure along the way, you will keep an eye open for it. You won't pass it by.
Today is filled with treasures. Perhaps even some of the disturbances are treasures poorly wrapped, but treasures nevertheless. How will you know until you open what is before you? Perhaps there is a nugget of gold at your feet, and you kick it away, thinking it is just another stone.
If it is too hard for you to bless what occurs, can you not still bless yourself? You have started out on a journey, and you are continuing it. When you are tired, sit and rest awhile. And then you pick yourself up, and keep walking. You do not know what is around the corner. You do not know what you will find on your walk through the field of peace today.
