Serving God
Barbara to Gloria:
Dear Gloria, how fortunate we all are to have God's words available so effortlessly to us each day, through HEAVEN.
Today I was reflecting on a recent turmoil God helped me through. He arranged things to help me that I could not have managed by myself. I asked for His help; I asked for help in releasing my control over this issue; I asked to be shown what it was that I was needing to control, for I now know that at the heart of any discomfort, there is the addiction to control.
Amazing, this, I have learned through Heaven, through you and Karen and the other Heaven-ites! It is a great blessing to be able to move relatively swiftly from the "events and circumstances" right to the heart — what am I trying to control?
I was also thinking how God invites us to trust, to let go, to leave it all to Him, to bask in His love, to know ourselves as of Him, and in Him and to love ourselves as He loves us. To receive, without any agenda, His Loving Grace.
And, I thought about how suspect I am about it all. My human mind is so trained to suspect, to guard, to stay on top of things, to second-guess, to wonder what it's going to cost down the road, or what I've done to deserve it, and so on.
But, to get that God doesn't want anything — what could God want when God is Everything?
What is this programming that would have us fear God in such a way as to distrust His offer of Heaven here and now? What makes us choose fear and lack and suffering over love and trust and joy? To receive, to accept, are so effortless.
Who do we think we are? Whom have we listened to all our lives? How did we come to feel so undeserving?
I ask God to free my mind from all the untruth I have allowed to fester there. I ask God to accept my apology for not taking His Love and for my doubting my worthiness of it. I ask God to open my heart to receive all that He gives — every moment — to me and to everyone. I ask God to show me how to be that which serves Heaven here and now.
I thank God for the gift of life and love. I return to God that love that He has made flow through me. I smile at God and bring Him flowers of love.
Thank You, God, for this enormous adventure called life. Thank You for being ever with me, even when I forget You, and disregard You, and turn away from You.
Thank you for always seeing me as Love, as your loving child. Through your grace, may I know You each moment more intimately. Please teach me how to stay in Your Loving Heart.
I love You, God. Thank you for giving me Heaven.
God to Barbara:
Yes, you are getting it. You are really getting it. And you know from Whence your understanding comes and from Whom. It is My understanding in you that you come to understand. And so it is yourself that you come to know. Your true self. Your guided self. The learning self. The open self. The pure self. The self that is pure flow of love, and therefore seeks not to control, but to let be.
The pure self that is receptor not arbitrator.
And what is receiving but an act of giving? What is listening but an act of giving?
And what is life but an act of giving?
And what you give is Me, I, your God.
You give Me.
That is all you have to give.
And to Whom do you give?
Why, you give to Me, the Giver.
We are one United One, Barbara.
And We are all there is.
Just you and I.
Just the reader here and I.
That's it.
Gloria:
Dear God, I am so touched by Barbara's beautiful expression, and Yours. You always touch me, melt me, but then I get up and go about life. I am often uncertain about how to love myself and love others at the same time. I don't want to be self-serving. And yet I know that I have to watch out not to give too much of myself away.
God:
Here's the secret, Gloria.
You do not serve others. You serve Me.
Mother Teresa helped many, but she was serving Me. She was working for Me.
Keep in mind for Whom you work.
It is not for this person or that.
It is for Me.
Mother Teresa did not let other people pull her.
She let Me pull her.
Jesus did not give himself to each person he healed.
He gave Me to them.
You give My love, not yours.
And you remember that you are equally deserving of My love and care.
I do not ask anyone to give himself away.
You are not a piece of bread to be pulled apart by others.
Here's another secret.
When you are neutral, no one will take too much from you.
When you can stay in My heart, you will not be imposed upon.
When you are away from control, others will not try to rule you.
Or, if they do, you will not notice it or be caught in it. You will be immune to it. So it is as if they did not.
You will be living with Me and serving Me.
Living with Me and serving Me does not mean that you must always smile, always give of yourself, always be noble and so ignore your own needs.
Serve Me, and you will know the difference between ego and My Will. You will not be confused between loving yourself and loving another.
You do not have to be all things to all others.
You do not have to be magnificent.
You do not have to be great.
Be simple Gloria doing a job for Me.
Others' needs will not distract you or pull you off course.
They do not need you.
They need Me.
And I am tireless, and I am the Granter, not you.
