It's not quite right. It is off. It is not on or quite on!
If your interpretation of events happened to be all wrong, probably we'd say that your interpretation was way off.
On the other hand, we could also say that your interpretation happened to be a little off.
My understanding is that if life has happened the way it happened, life has to have been more right about its choices than we think. Anyway, the deed is done. Life took its course, and we need to move on.
Anneke, I am amazed at the fine distinctions there are in common usage of English. Would this also be the case in Dutch?

I think in Dutch there are very fine distinctions and the same word can have different meanings, depending in what sentence.
