How to Deal with Computers and Today
Gloria to God:
Dear God, I was unable to connect to the Internet this morning. I felt at an impasse, frustrated, and emotional. Whenever something doesn't go right with the computer, I get extremely tense. Is how I react to computer frustrations how I deal with frustration in life? Is it an issue of my control? I feel helpless and have to call someone to come fix it, and I resent having to depend on someone else.
God:
Dear Gloria, upon Whom do you depend? Not on a computer, not someone to help. On Me. So how can you feel helpless with such an Ally, Friend, Resource as I? Who fixes your computer? Who created you capable of dealing with frustration?
When you taught school, even with the most difficult students, you had fun with them and brought them around. You can feel as good with a machine.
First of all, give your computer a name. Consider your computer a horse. You would give your horse a name, you would drive it, you would use it, you would work it, but you would also give it rest and some positive attention. When have you said to your computer, "You're wonderful! I appreciate all you do so much."
Name your computer and consider it your finest employee and appreciate it in good times. You will feel less frustration when a difficulty arises.
Gloria:
I just realize I can call my Internet provider for help.
God:
You calmed down a little and thought.
Gloria:
I had a job-search client once who was a programmer, He said that when there was a bug in a program he was working on, he would look for the bug in himself, and when he got past that, the bug in the program would disappear.
Is this computer difficulty symptomatic of something within me?
God:
You have been feeling frustrated about the web page and record-keeping. Your frustration manifested with your not getting through this morning. You have also desired time off. You might get it.
Gloria:
Dear God, I can depend on You to solve this, and yet I —
God:
You can depend on Me. I help. You solve.
Gloria:
Did You help manifest this snag?
God:
Everything is to help you, Gloria. If your computer were working perfectly this morning, would you have given attention to these areas and grown in the understanding you have?
Gloria:
No. Thank You. Now, God, You're not saying that, if I name my computer and give it affection as to a horse, that there will never be a problem with it?
God:
I am saying that when there is a problem, you will be better able to take it in stride.
Gloria:
Talking about mechanics, I am very fond of writing your words down in purple pen. There's a certain one I like. When I run out and have to use blue or black, I am not happy. I shouldn't be attached to the pen or color I use. And I like to write big. People in concentration camps wrote with a stub of pencil in tiny tiny print.
God:
Whereas it is good to not be attached, you have the freedom of choice here. Use purple to your heart's content, and write as big as you like. It is okay to have preferences. If you could not have your preference, you would use what you had available.
Gloria:
I am naming my computer "Flying Angel". I realize I have considered it a foreign object, even an alien that I could never understand. I am liking it more already!
God, how vast Your range is! From the light of Heaven to computer bugs. From the biggest to the smallest, You know everything.
God:
There is no big or small. There just is what your attention is on.
The topic today wasn't really on computer bugs or purple pens. It was on love. That is ever the topic. How to love your computer was today's.
Gloria to Mother Divine:
Dear Mother Divine, God makes everything magnificent.
Mother Divine:
He makes you notice the magnificence in everything.
This morning, if you can raise yourself to think as follows, you will have a day of magnificence:
"What a marvelous world I wake to! All the colors! The sounds! The shades of light. The textures. What a wonderful world I live in. Filled with treasures. Love in all shapes and sizes. I am so lucky to be alive today.
"God treats me well. He gives me everything. He makes the world beautiful because He created it Beauty.
"God gave me a mind to think with and a heart to love with and a body to carry my thoughts and love around in and from which to send them out and to welcome the same from other souls seemingly fixed in their bodies.
"I am light, and all is light. God has lit us up. We are His beacons of light.
"We are His marvels who marvel in His creation. This is a great playground He has fashioned for us.
"I shall play in God's world today. I am a player. I can only win as I help others to win. There is no opponent. We are one team. And that's how I like it.
"Winning is all that there is. I win in life today because I play.
"I am a victor in life. All whom I meet are also victors. The name of the game we play is Victory.
"We ride a merry-go-round, and everyone catches the brass ring.
"We are God's marvels placed in a marvel, and we marvel at all God has created, which includes ourselves.
"I am one of God's marvels, and I walk my day as a marvel walks.
"I am a grateful marvel, grateful to be the Who I am, grateful for my spilling milk as well as wiping it up, grateful for every marvel that passes my way today.
"Is not God's creation marvelous? Shall I not have a marvelous day? Who would choose a day that was unmarvelous? Not I. I choose marvelous because I choose truth. Marvelous begets marvelous."
