Heaven #3865 All That You Have Been Given
Posted June 11th, 2011 by Normand Bo...
Dear Gloria,
in http://www.heavenletters.org/all-that-you-have-been-given.html
paragraph 4
"Remember to give what someone wants more than you want to give something else that you favor to give." This sentence confuses me. Could you separate it in chunks for me?
And immediately after this sentence, does the other sentence starting with "Company may or may not be a gifts" belong to the same paragraph or should it start a new alinea?
Thanks

It's awkward, beloved
It's awkward, beloved Normand, no doubt about that.
You want to give someone a gift. When you go shopping, you pick out something you'd really like to give to your friend. It's easy to feel that your friend would really like what you like. You may also feel it would be good for him or her. You mean well.
It may not be a physical gift that God is talking about.
You may love to have people stop by to see you. Maybe the other person isn't like you. He may love his friends but not want them coming around unannounced, let's say. You like company. Your friend may not.
You would never want a bowl of lemons for your table, yet your friend might love a bowl of lemons on his table.
How attuned are you to what your friend would like?
"... give what someone wants more than you want to give something else that you favor to give. Company may or may not be a gift desired. Sweets may or may not be a gift desired. Give what the receiver desires. Think of what the receiver desires. It could even be a bowl of lemons.
In short: Give someone what
In short: Give someone what he wants rather than giving him what you would want to give him.
Thanks Gloria
