Heaven #3768 The Sunlight is So Bright
Beloved Gloria, in
http://www.heavenletters.org/the-sunlight-is-so-bright.html
14th paragraph:
"The way it is now is that you can’t even see Me, sense Me. You sense a void.. You may even feel that you have been left holding the bag.
This long-touted enlightenment takes some getting used to. Of course, it does. The whole world is floating away with you on it. You are unlocatable. Nothing is locatable, and where are you or anyone to locate the world or anything at all?"
I am not sure of the meaning of "long-touted" in this context. Is it "long sought for" or "foreseen" or "prognosticated"?
Thanks

Do you mean the comment
Do you mean the comment above where it says comment deleted? You had a question. Do you have it still, dear friend?
Just in case, long-touted means long talked-about. Perhaps long-bruited would be a synonym.
No, dear Gloria I was really
No, dear Gloria
I was really asking about "long-touted" for which you gave me the answer I need.
About the deleted comment, it is that I don't know how to delete a comment. It seems we can only edit it.
Normand, there is an even
Normand, there is an even stronger note to "tout" – in case you want to consider it for your translation:
attempt to sell something, typically by pestering people in an aggressive or bold manner : Jim was touting his wares.
• (often be touted) attempt to persuade people of the merits of someone or something : the headquarters facility was touted as the best in the country.
About editing: Yes, users can only edit their comments and only as long as there is no response yet. Wich makes sense, because if you edit your post later, the response may have to be changed as well; and when you delete it after responses have been made, the responses will go with it. But it seems it would make sense to be able to delete your own comment when no one has responded yet. Try to put it on the wish list for the next site upgrade.
Thanks Jochen. I had already
Thanks Jochen. I had already translated in terms of trying to sell something to people, which is one of the meanings you are pointing at ("attempt to persuade people of the merits of someone or something".
For the editing I do understand the idea. In the case where it has received a response, you make a new comment. But when there hasn't been any response, we should be able to delete the whole comment. It will be on the wish list. It is seldom that I decide to delete a comment on this forum, but it happens sometimes. So it is not a priority.
Well, I am eager to know
Well, I am eager to know what the comment is that you deleted!
As for everyone's editing his or her own comments, as much as I understand the desire for perfection, I think you are quite right that it is not a priority. In fact, I wonder whether typos and such on posts are worth even a second's thought. Fixing them might be a waste of time and focus. I doubt that typos and such don't bother anyone except the one who posted. For a doctoral thesis, we have to take care of every detail, but for posting our heartfelt thoughts on the forum, so what if there is a typo. Maybe it's good for us to learn to live with less than perfection and not mind it.
Dear Gloria, there is not
Dear Gloria, there is not much interest in the comment I deleted. Sometimes, I am headless and go asking a stupid question where the answer is so obvious…
And I agree so much with you about the obsession of correcting typos. But let us admit the fact that with electronic editing, we don't have this acute sense of catching the "mistakes" like the one we have when we print the text and make corrections. Computer is fast and is fast in forgetting.
Of course, english is not my mother tongue but when I re-read my posts, I say to myself how could I have not seen this mistake, it is so obvious! But, as you say so well, it's good for us to learn to live with less that perfection and not mind it. But I still prefer to delete my stupid questions before going public. Poor ego of mine!
It is hard to believe that
It is hard to believe that English is not your mother tongue! You are amazing at English!
Thank you, dear one, I will
Thank you, dear one, I will take it as a compliment.
