fear
An Idea in Your Mind
You have no enemies. Enemy is an idea in your mind.
Even as I say that you have no enemies, I will tell you that you have one who has been a constant. What I am going to tell you is the basis of any enemy you have entrusted your faith to, and that is fear. Fear is your number one Enemy. Fear is the ephemeral basis of any of the enemies you have fought or run away from. The basis of the concept of enemy is fear, and fear alone. Fear is repetitive yet not so formidable as you have thought.
The Upside
The upside of illness is that you can get well.
The upside of illness is that you can regard it in many ways. As dire as illness may seem and be, you can look at it as a language that you have not yet understood. You can regard illness as a friend who has something to tell you. Your friend, illness, comes closer, and you can look at him in many ways. You can look at him as punishment, the price you pay for having done something wrong, even when you don't know what you did, and may really have not done anything. Certainly, no one would deserve illness.
Stop Listening to the Chicken Littles
Jona to God:
Dear God, my pro-life paper has been handed in, and one of my friends (who is my teacher's son) said that she liked it, and that he liked it too. But I have not gotten my final grade yet. I was very pleased with how it turned out. At first, I didn't think Your answer to my question would help, but I thought about it, and it did. Because love is the answer for everything in the end. So thank You.
Enough of Fear!
You can always point to substantial reasons for your fears. Fears and the causes are very real to you. Who could not be afraid in this or that circumstance, you ask. You even fear for your physical life, as if it were in your hands to extend. When you know there is a God in Heaven who takes care of you and all beings, you will have less fear and take more responsibility for yourself.
Fear Not
Do not make a monster of fear in any of its forms. You may have been quite proficient in looking at fear, yet fear is not so fearful as you have thought. You have taken it far too seriously, as if it were the master of your life, as if you have to dodge fear as you would moving traffic. Even in heavy traffic, you can still can get across the street.
Or consider fear a curtain put before you. The curtain would have you see only itself, yet you are capable of opening a curtain and seeing out beyond its confinement. The curtain is still there, but you moved it aside.
So walk through fear.
The Field of Beingness
Do you begin to see how being is giving?
When you just are, you can only give.
When you are thinking or owning or in fear, you can only withhold.
When you think about giving or not giving, there has been a stop in your giving, or a pause in it.
Yet what you feel, you give. If you are in fear at a given moment, you give fear.
When you are at peace, you give peace.
God's Unbounded Love
Faith is a theme. It is like an emblem on a T-shirt smack in the middle of your chest.
Faith is also a winding pattern as on the hem of a skirt.
Faith is interior and exterior. If we look at you as a round globe, the outer line of you is the center amplified.
Faith is not something you hunt. You do not achieve it. Allow it, and it will be there, a full assemblage of faith.
God Asks
When you accept where and what your Real Existence is, you won't be possessed so much by the fears that presently possess you. Will you agree that fear has you in its clutches, that it often motivates you?
What does fear think it is? It thinks it is premonition, and it thinks it is insurance. It thinks it is a seer and a swordsman in one. It thinks it is your defender when it is your undoer.
But fear doesn't really think at all. It is you who does the thinking for it. Fear uses you to make itself big, and you comply.
Fear, Time and Space
Waiting is putting yourself on hold. That is what waiting is. You do not wait for something. You wait for yourself to go ahead.
Waiting isn't exactly procrastination. Waiting is fear. How strange a word is "fear". It is a certain sound. It is a symbol of nothing, yet it strikes itself in your heart like a reverberating gong. The mere mention of it is an anathema. The mere mention of it makes it present.
End Fear
You must end fear once and for all. It is the concept of fear that you must end. Until you do, you will always find fears to fill the concept. What you have is fear, not fears. You have this episodic villain called fear who runs loose in you and grabs onto many things, one after another. He finishes with one, shows it for what it is, and then grabs onto another to take its place.
