Jona to God:

Dear God, my pro-life paper has been handed in, and one of my friends (who is my teacher's son) said that she liked it, and that he liked it too. But I have not gotten my final grade yet. I was very pleased with how it turned out. At first, I didn't think Your answer to my question would help, but I thought about it, and it did. Because love is the answer for everything in the end. So thank You.

I have another question for you, but it's on a completely different subject. It also has something to do with what I'm studying in school.

In science (another of my least favorite subjects) my topic (which I picked) is on the environment and pollution and such. I picked that topic thinking it would be a fairly simple, and fun with Earth day coming up and it being spring. Then my science teacher told me about a big controversy on the condition of the earth. Some say that the earth is polluted and that by the time I grow up, everything with be dead if we don't do something. They also say that it's all our parents' fault, and we have to fix it.

However there are others that say the environment is fine, that there is no ozone hole and that the people that say otherwise are just tying to scare us. For what purpose I'm not quite clear on. Now I'm not pointing the finger at anyone, but from what I been told, there are two different views and they are both saying opposite things.

I picked this subject thinking it would be fun, and that I could help the earth at the same time. But now I'm confused and disappointed. I don't know who is right.

For example, one book says that recycling will help the earth, and another says that recycling does nothing and that you should not bother. All my life I was raised thinking that by picking up trash and recycling I could help. Now I'm told that the earth is not in danger and that I'm not helping at all. I feel more scared now than I did then when I first started. I feel deceived and I don't even know why.

Dear Lord, why do people want to scare us about our home?

Jona Care, 15

God to Jona:

Many people in the world look at the wrong end of things. They look through microscopes and telescopes and see what they see. The same equipment, different vision. Whose eyes are seeing?

Those who have fear, no matter how well-intentioned, are fearful. The world will always hand you something to fear. Evidence to back up the fear can always be found. And no one wants to be afraid alone.

Fear is not God-motivated.

Even the end of the world would not be the end of the world! It would only be a playing-out of collective drama.

There is no end. I am infinite. Infinity means endless. You will always be with Me.

Who holds up the world, Jona?

What is the world?

Jona, look to Me and look to your heart, and pay no mind nor heart to others' opinions. Opinions are only opinions.

No person is an expert. All are amateurs. No one knows more than you do, Jona. All the facts and evidence anyone possesses — none of it means they know more than you do.

As in your previous question, dearest Jona, you are seeing only two sides. In this case, one solution or no solution. Recycle, or give up.

But you already answered your question yourself. "Love is the answer to everything in the end." Instead of two solutions, there is only one, My dear child.

Is it possible that you can smile a little over this, Jona, and consider Who takes care of the universe? It's not your responsibility, dear one. It is Mine.

Your responsibility is to love the earth. You already do. You love the springtime. You paint the beauty of what the earth gives you. You create beauty.

Your responsibility is to respect the earth. The earth is even called Mother Earth. Your feet tread on it. Its breezes blow over you. Its trees bow to you. The earth gives you sustenance and joy.

Nature is Heaven on earth, Jona.

You want to give back to the earth.

Of course, keep it clean. Of course, pick up after yourself, and maybe others. Recycle with love. Nurture the earth with love, Jona.

Plant a flower. Run soil through your fingers.

Think of the earth with love, not fear. Fear breeds fear. Fear is not a good motivator. Love is a good one.

You are not helpless, Jona. And be hopeful.

Do you remember the story of Chicken Little who thought the sky was falling?

Do you remember the panic of Y2K?

Do you remember how Christ lived? He lived with Me in equanimity.

Keep your heart with Mine, Jona, where it belongs.

Karen's email below arrived the same day as God's answer to Jona's question. — Gloria

Karen to Gloria:

Could all your roses be a hobby of healing or what? Hmmmmmm. Well, get ready. Work and work on these roses! Ahha!

Well Gloria, all the yard work is really a catharsis — Did I spell that correctly? Anyways, letting go of old and getting it all ready and new again.

Love nature. It is God's pure gift. It loves us.
