Bless the Day God Gives
Let birth and death be blessings, and all the life in between be a blessing as well. Why, what else should life be but a blessing, beloveds? What would you prefer to make of the life before you? Choose to be blessed and bless. Why embrace suffering when, for the same money, you can have and give joy? Acknowledge that you are fortunate in life, and relish your life.
It is understood that events in life are not all considered equal. You see one thing as virtuous and another as tragic. This is the play in life, beloveds. You see extremes, and so you surround yourself with limits. You allocate suffering to yourself. When you see only so far, of course, you are spending your days in a land of limitation. The land you perceive is limited because that is how you see it. Perceive differently, and you live in a different terrain.
Certainly all of life is not dessert. There are appetizers and entrees and rustic breads. Man does not live by dessert alone. And yet all the other foods serve their purpose. If only you could engage the idea that everything that occurs in life serves you -- breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
You have the idea that you have to understand everything and that it has to suit you. You have the idea that events and circumstances have to be justified, that they have to be explained in language you understand. Perhaps it is time for you to learn a new language. Perhaps it is time for you to stop qualifying life and just keep going and live in it without begrudging it. You don’t have to know all the ingredients and the recipe in order to enjoy what is before you.
Why belabor life and ask it to explain itself? Just keep going. Life is life, and it is what you have for a short time. Proceed, and make it joyful. Life will carry you like a pony on a merry go-round. Perhaps you wanted to ride on a different pony. Right now you ride the pony you are on. Don’t be upset that the pony you ride on now is a palomino when you wanted a bronco. It is not that you make the best of what you have as it is to enjoy what you have while you have it.
It seems in life that you often either want to get on or you want to get off. You want to stay where you are, or you want to leave. Sometimes life gives you everything you want, and sometimes it doesn’t. Your life does not have to depend on what you think of it, beloveds. Think differently of it, and life will more likely become what you want.
It is not that you won’t care about what happens in life anymore. It will be that you care more. You will ride the waves. You will enjoy more. Your joy in life will not be so dependent upon events. You will know that you ride the waves of life. Your Beingness is a constant, yet life does not have to be. Whether you ride a tiger or a dolphin, you can be glad to be alive in the world you live in.
Life is for you right now and not for later and not for what it was yesterday. Rise anew each day. Be eager for the day you are about to receive. Don’t be so fussy about it. Bless the day, and thank God that you are alive, and that this day is spread before you.
