And the Sun Came Out

God said:

The theme of opposites runs through your life. You have happiness and unhappiness. You have confidence, and you have fear. You have gain, and you have loss.

What is this power you give to whatever opposite there is that disturbs you. Ten wonderful things happen in a morning, and then there is one inharmonious incident, and your morning is ruined. The incident may plague you all morning or all day, maybe even for a week. I wonder why you would allow one incident to take precedence over all the loveliness? It is simple mathematics, beloveds.

Back to My question, why does the negative take such a big chunk out of your life? Certainly ten to one is good odds, so why do you let one incident disrupt your happiness?

If you had ten dollars in your pocket, and you lost one dollar, you would still have nine dollars, and you would be glad for that. You wouldn't spend all day moaning about that one dollar. Or you might if that were your last ten dollars. Even so, what good would that do you who so wants good in your life?

So I come back to My question, why does one inharmonious incident in life seemingly weigh so heavily on you? Well, never mind, why. Rather, let Me ask you what can you do so that an unhappy incident doesn't run off with your happiness?

You already know the answer. I have said it at least ten times. Never mind the one unpleasant incident. Focus on the nine respectable ones. Is it habit that you don't already? Habits can be changed. Habits of thinking can be changed. Your life can be changed.

So, beloveds, get on the wagon of focusing on the good stuff, and get off the wagon of focusing on that which is not happy for you. Write off the distaff. Shrug your shoulders. Let go of thinking how faulty someone else was or you were or about what you could have done better if only you had thought. Beloveds, desist from thinking so much.

And if you must think, think of all the lovely things that lifted your heart in the past hour. You got up. You walked downstairs. You ate today. You received a fine email or two. You went outside. You caught a bus or a train or drove your car. There were no accidents on the way. You got to work on time. Someone smiled at you. You got some work done. Lunchtime came, and you ate again. More people smiled at you. And the sun came out.

Be good to your heart. Give it its true calling which is to be delighted for all the blessings you receive, big and small. And don't take to heart whatever you don't see as a blessing.

Do you choose moseying along, or do you choose a traffic jam in your heart? Attention on what is negative to you is not the best use of your time nor is it the best use of your heart nor is it the best use of your life, your life, beloveds, this life I give to you to do as you will and as I will.

Universal god

Why is that people are comfortable calling God a 'father' but not a 'mother' or say something neutral like 'light'? Why can't God just be a friend? 'Father' connotes a sense of respectable distance. I would definitely find it easier to believe and commune with a 'friendly god' than a 'fatherly god'.
If God is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent it definitely make sense for God to be more than just a 'perfect' person. Light exists everywhere, and it makes more sense to me to think of God in this way.
And hasn't God said in other letters or sutras that we have more than one life? It is also logical that this be so. It's easy to 'go off track' in any given life. It makes sense that we have more lives to evolve towards perfection.

Dear Karthik, you are right,

Dear Karthik, you are right, of course, that God can hardly be any of what our countless God images assume God is. You will find Heavenletters that are very clear about this. A friend, yes, that's what God says. Believe me, dear one, what you hope God to be like in your heart of hearts, that's what God is.

There are probably historical reasons for this male bias when it comes to God. I think they are not worth studying. God in Heavenletter says it doesn't matter at all how we envision or call "Him" and that "He" is Mother/Father and everything at all. Yes, call HerHim Light, why not? SHe suggested to me to call HerHim Tree. Anything that feels good is okay. In terms of communication, its probably best to stick with "God". And perhaps a controversial name and "sex" is better than something more factually accurate like "Light" which might mislead us into believing we know. For either way, God or Tree or Mother or Light – those are just concepts, not too relevant.

Agree

Jochen - Thanks for the reply.I guess despite this 'intellectual' understanding that these are just concepts, we will still choose the form of God/Goddess that we are comfortable with.
But it is important to know that 'All That Is' isn't just one form or the other but can be visualized in any form one wishes or no form at all - This one understanding can root out many of the religious misunderstandings existent on this planet.

When people say there is only one God, I agree with that, but when they say that One God is of 'this religion' that's where ignorance begins. When they say 'God' looks like this and not like that - That is again ignorance. When they say God favors one country over the other - That is arrogance and ignorance put together.

Happiness is within. Recognize it by letting go of the past, worries about the future and being in the present.
This takes time and meditation, introspection, self-observation helps. On my way to fully living in the present.

Be good to your heart.

Yes, it's a habit. When you have lived in a seeming body for what looks like decades, nerver meeting someone who convincingly pointed the folly out to you – perhaps you were unable to hear, perhaps you did not want to hear – what you end up with looks like a hopeless traffic jam.

This has been my experience. Until, even in the thick of that traffic jam, there were first glimpses of what might be called causeless happiness, causeless because it's simply there all the time, only unnoticed most of the time. Apparently, over the many months of my acquaintance with Heavenletters, it is slowly becoming a new habit since I noticed that I can switch back to it intentionally whenever the worry wart gets active again, which it does a hundred times a day. I had to learn to be adamant and shake my head softly, groping for what (for want of a better word) I call happiness, finding that, unbeleavably at first, it's there.

Dear God, is this Your express train at last?

Let Us say there is an Express Train and a chugging local. Take the Express. It is headed for Happiness. There’s nothing wrong with the local, but you may have been taking it for a long time. It makes the same stops it always makes, and it doesn’t take you where you want to go. The Express gets you where you want to go, and fast. The Express has much less wear and tear on you. It takes you right to your destination. How fast the Express can go. How fast it can get you out of the doldrums and deliver you to Me where desolation and such cannot exist, do not exist, will not exist. Come, ride with Me on the Express. I go the shortest distance between the two points of where you find yourself and where you want to go.

That is a marvelous phrase

That is a marvelous phrase -- causeless happiness. Causeless Happiness. Wow, that's good.

Wouldn't causeless happiness

Wouldn't causeless happiness come from the progressive awareness of the fact that:
«You are an undiscovered treasure.
Your recognition is necessary. No one else's.
You have looked for recognition from outside you, and so you have set a trap for yourself, and you have caught yourself in it.
Look for knowing within you and not for the recognition without.

What the world and the populace within it think of you is incidental. What you think of yourself is paramount.

Let your thoughts about yourself arise from Me, and then you will know what you know.»

Yes, definitely, Normand.

Yes, definitely, Normand. This is one of the many beautiful ways Heavenletters put it. And let's be clear that causeless happiness, even logically, cannot "come from" somehwere (which you know, of course). That's the most important point for me: Whe don't have to achieve it because it's what we are made of. The way to "achieve" it is in some shift of perception that makes us aware of the fact that it's there anyway, the stuff of creation, variously called love, Oneness, Spritit etc.

Reading your quotation closely once again, I think it's all we ever needed to hear if we were able to deeply take into our hearts and keep it warm there.

And hear and repeat ourself,

And hear and repeat ourself, again and again :
-«You were born to stay with Me. It is your awareness that must return to the Truth of you and the Truth of Me»..

- «I am not to be found but recognized». (#426 : Why you Were Born)

Simple mathematics indeed

The Big Man says it so simply. I was thinking about mathematics this morning (one of my favourite subjects at school) and how useful it can be to help us simplify our lives, even at the very basic level of putting things into numerical order.

I like this aspect very much - encouraging us to focus on the majority of things that are good rather than the minority of things we deem to be bad. Simply brilliant.

Love, as ever,

Chris

Being thankful for life's lessons

I love this letter, a gentle reminder that we truly have so much to be thankful for.
Each morning my heart if full of gratitude just to have awaken each morning to experience another wonderful day in my life and all the lessons the day will bring – good or questionable.

If it is joyful, I say thank you so much God for that beautiful experience.
If the day holds thoughts of challenges, at the end of the day, I look back and contemplate what this experience can teach me. What could I learn from this interesting lesson? What has it taught me today? When my son 15-year-old son was killed in 97 and my husband died in 99 I questioned those heartaches that overcame my life. Now I am grateful for the lessons I have been blessed with.

My son gave me the gift of understanding, patients, compassion, unconditional love, tolerance, hope and trust.

My husband gifted my life with understanding, unconditional love, independence, strength, friendship, patients, perception, empathy, serenity, harmony, companionship, gratitude, and passiveness.

In 2005, I was in a accident. A man and his older son were from out of town and they ran a red light while I was entering the intersection. The road was a long stretch and the speed limit was 60, I was going with the flow of traffic but did not see the out of town car run the light because there was a truck sitting in the left turning lane on my side. I only saw him when I was approaching the intersection and I hit him at 60mph on his right rear side, he went into the pole and as I hit him my bag exploded and I spun around. The impact totaled my small car. I believe the whole impact was cushioned because after I spun around I walked out of the car and looked at it, the whole front end was crushed half its length, my dash seemed to still be where it was normally. The back seat was detached from its place. My whole windshield was broken and falling through and my steering wheel was crooked. When my brain realized what had happened I was frantic to get all my things out of the car because it was smoking, I didn’t want to lose my things, especially my essential oil kit I had just purchased. I had some paper grocery bags in the back seat and hurried up to grab all my things in the middle of the intersection with all cars slowing down. I felt it pertinent to get my oils out.

The only damage to my body was a burn on my right hand in-between my thumb and index finger where I had a hold of the steering wheel. I always wear a seat belt and I didn’t receive any burns from it whatsoever.

I was on the way back from a 110-mile trip. On the way down, I was listening to a Angel CD. that was talking about our life’s lessons and specifically mentioned having a car accident. It had said you can always ask your angels to make your car accident light, receiving the lesson but asking for it to be light not devastating. So on the way down to my appointment I did just that. I said, “Ok, God and my Angels, if I am to have an accident in my life, please make it a light one with no injuries” …my crash was on the way back from my appointment.

I had my Essential Oil kit with me and on the way back I was listening to the scientific explanations to different oils and especially lavender. That burn I received turned black and hurt so bad by the time my daughter came to pick me up. We were driving home and I said Stop! Let me get my lavender out of the back. I poured several drops onto my hand and the pain stopped immediately and it healed in a short time.
