A mattress filled with down
Dear Gloria,
What is "down" in that expression : «a mattress filled with down»?
It is in the yet unpublished HL #3514 : Embraced in Love.
No one dies alone. No one lives alone. If one died or lived in a desert with no other human being around, he is not alone, for I am with him. No one has less of Me. To all I give all of Myself. That some are more aware of Our Connectedness is another matter. Right now, you or anyone, can rise into My arms of love, or, if you prefer, you can sink into My arms of love. You can sink into My arms of love the way you would sink into a mattress filled with down, or you can rise into My arms of love as you imagine the bowers of Heaven to be. Everything is metaphor, beloveds, except the Reality of Our Oneness.
Thanks
Ok I found it
I could not find it in English Dictionaries (American Heritage, Babylon…) but I did the reverse starting with french "duvet" and I did find "down". I suspected that it was meaning "duvet" put I needed the evidence.
Dear Normand, my
Dear Normand, my understanding is that down is goose feathers.I should check to be sure. I'll come back to verify.
Okay, according to Wikipedia, down is the soft under feathers of any kind of bird.
"Down offers excellent thermal properties, and has good lofting characteristics. This means that the down traps small pockets of air efficiently. The small pockets of air provide the thermal barrier. Down has the added property that it can be packed into a very small space."
Hope this helps.
Thanks Gloria
«Duvet» is a good choice for down.
