Right this minute, 2:16 p.m. GMT on March 29, there are 182 guests online. I have never seen such a figure on this site before. Wow.

2:43 p.m.: 204!

And only minutes later it's 251. Is this true?

I think Heaven Admin is the one to answer this! Though I suspect the program is having fun with us! One day this will be very true. Right now I think 27 or 29 has been the top for any one time. I am well-pleased with that!

How observant you are, beloved Jochen.

Dear Jochen, Talk about

Dear Jochen,

Talk about synchronicity! I'm watching the figures as well. I saw 293 just now and logged into the webserver to make sure...and yes it looks like we are getting a whole lot of visits that are all coming from one IP block located in France! Has Cedric being throwing a Heavenletter party?

There are also many other visitors from other countries at the same time. Thank God we did that recent speed improvements and server optimisations!

325 online now. I should add

325 online now.

I should add that the "Who's online block" is not 100% accurate. At present it shows visitors who have been on the site for 10min. If the person visits one page and goes away, it will consider them online until the 10min from their landing on any page on this site.

We had it set at 5min previously, but I wanted to get an idea of what happens in a 10min window.

I reconfigured the block to

I reconfigured the block to show 5min interval activity and it shows 157 guests online which I think this is the highest the site has experienced so far. Wow! There are some visitors from Sweden as well.

30min shows 885 guests. I

30min shows 885 guests. I think 10min is an accurate setting, which is about how long it may take someone to read a Heavenletter. Of course one could contemplate on a Heavenletter for hours!

Santhan, are you using

Santhan, are you using ClustrMaps or something similar? If so, wouldn't it be nice to have it displayed somewhere?

Very good idea. I may have

Very good idea. I may have already put it somewhere on this site, just have to look for it or I can set it up again.

I'm reading the IPs manually from the server and matching it to a country to IP database.

Hey, it's up! Great! Thanks,

Hey, it's up! Great! Thanks, Santhan.

Today our "Who's online" on

Today our "Who's online" on the community page said 0 guests, 0 users. I have never seen that before. Apart from the question who I am, I have noticed that the figures displayed tend to be below 10 most of the time recently. Are there actual changes in frequency of visits or is it just the manner of counting them that has changed?

I changed the timer again

I changed the timer again Jochen. The other day I was surprised to see the user count go up to >3000 and was wondering what could be doing this. It appeared that some type of robot was aggressively crawling the site. So I changed the timer to something like 30 sec. I'm going to put it back to a more realistic limit of 5min. Sometimes a post can take over 10 minutes to complete and there are times when one will read a Heavenletter far beyond that.

I'm basing the 5min interval on Google Analytics report that states a visitor to the Heavenletters websites stays for an average of 5min.

You may be interested to know, that Heavenletters daily traffic has increased 3 times since the launch of the website. We are now averaging around 250 unique visitors, 42% of them being first time visitors. There are around 3500 pages that are served daily. Our highest number of visitors in one day was around 520.

We intend for all of these numbers to explode when the website is closer to complete and the server has been prepared. We are however prepared for an "emergency" spike in traffic.

Very clear explanation

Very clear explanation Santhan. Thank you so much. I'm glad I don't know what robots are that aggressively crawl sites (and what for). Well, okay, it does sound a bit yikes.
