What Might Have Been

God said:

My children, your heart aches. You yearn for the past, yet right now is beautiful, isn’t it? You have greater awareness, isn’t this beautiful? And your life, all in all, is pretty good, isn’t it? Yet you yearn for love. It is love you yearn for. What is your yearning to be young again but a yearning for the past and for another go at it when you now know better than you knew then?

Youth has nothing to do with you. Youth is like a motor. In youth, you were a newer motor. You are your same self unaffected. New, old, in between, you are irrevocably you, and you are etched in My heart. You are more than etched. You are embedded in My heart. What more can you yearn for? Nevertheless, you yearn to go back and write a different script. You yearn for what might have been.

You can’t have everything in life all at one moment in space and time. You can’t possess everything in life all at once. You can have it all, yet you can’t possess everything. You can’t be younger and wiser at the same time. You can’t be tall and short. You can be and have much, yet not all in the same fragment of life. You can only live as you live right now.

In your mind you would like to be surrounded by all your past loved ones, yet on Earth you wouldn’t know how to deal with all the past now. What would you do at a big party with a hundred or two-hundred people you would like to make amends with? You would be overwhelmed.

You long for the people in your past. What you really long for is another chance. You crave another version of your life where you walked with confidence and honored others and yourself more. You like to think that you would rush into the arms of those you loved, yet not in this body you presently carry around, you can’t now. You admit you were a callow youth then. Of course, you would do differently now. You would do better now.

You would like a second chance. You would like to do it over. You would like a dress rehearsal for life. You would like to play your part ravishingly. You would like to say words you never said and, perhaps, only thought of long afterwards. How you would also take words spoken back then if only you knew how.

You would love to be faultless given a second time around and not see the flaws in others either.

Consider, what if you were just right in the time past and not full of regrets now? You can’t do it over. For life, there is no rehearsal. It is all ad lib. Parts of your life that you regret, it wouldn’t work to try to relive them now. You couldn’t relive and keep your attention on a past script anyway. You would have to be in the new present regardless.

What you can do now is to welcome what comes to you at this moment. If you would give yourself a new lease on life, that would be happiness. What you can do is start right over now with everyone you meet. Old life cannot be renewed, yet you can be renewed. You can renew yourself. You can meet everyone you meet now with the Love in your heart that you desire to give to those in the past. Love now.

You know I’m going to tell you that the past doesn’t exist at this moment and that it never did. Memories exist, yet where do they exist? In your mind. What are memories but thoughts? You had thoughts once upon a time, and you have different thoughts now. Based on your thoughts, you have feelings.

Say goodbye to all the loved ones and to all the almost loved ones and to those you vied with, many of whom who were also your loved ones. Make one big apology if you must and bid your hovering memories adieu. Release those you hold onto. Release yourself. Release time and space, beloveds. Release.

"right now is beautiful, isn’t it?"

As my precious life shuffles toward the Golden Gate, I find each moment very precious and look with joy and insight to my children and grandkids coming to help me celebrate my 90th birthday. This is joy, It illustrates our need to see the NOW of each moment as the real sourse of our way of living life in the instant of the unfolding of the real life process. Stay away from the past and avoid the entangling mesh of the future which never can be, because nothing moves NOW out of the path we walk. It's alway NOW and we are always present then and only then. Love it!

You are so right, dear

You are so right, dear George. I must confess that I long for the past when you responded to almost all comments, and, in so doing, you made my day!

"you made my day"

Gloria: your words above are a montra that sings it lovely words in my heart every day. Last night I had very hard heart pain which I usually ease with Nitroglycerin tablets but last night I just welcomed the pain and sort of enjoyed feeling the way my life has lifted me to a quiet, silent, time of waiting for the next precious second to unfold. You are a precious part of that unfolding. I must confess to getting a form of weakness that keeps me a bit more quiet than I'd like but the words from you fill me with a sense of great joy. In this shifting of identity I find that my love connection with you gives me the kind of strength I need for each coming day of knowing and loving. Thank you precious One!

You, above all, know that it

You, above all, know that it is God we thank! . I am thanking God for the blessing you are and have always been.

For those who don't know, George was a remarkable Unity Minister.
