HEAVEN or Heavenletter?

Since this concerns all translators, here is the email exchange between myself and Santhan and Gloria:

Luus to Santhan/Gloria:
When Shane from South Africa started translating Heavenletters into Afrikaans he did not say HEAVEN #... but instead he said Heavenletter # ..
I then told Gloria and you that I prefer Heavenletter, but you said you prefer HEAVEN.

This morning I looked at the Dutch and English Heavenletters and to my surprise I see:
Heavenletter #4219 What You Are Learning, June 13, 2012
HEAVEN #4219 Wat Je Leert

Now I wonder who made the English version a Heavenletter and the foreign versions a HEAVEN? Shouldn't they both be the same?

Santhan to Luus:
You're right. The correct way is "Heavenletter". We want to make sure the word Heavenletter is known and is associated with Heavenletters.

Gloria to Luus:
Thank you, beloved Luus. You are a dynamo. Yes, I agree with you and Santhan. Heavenletter consistently.

Luus to Gloria:
So that must mean even more work for Santhan, for it then will need to be changed.

Gloria to Luus:
From my point of view, from my point of view, until there is someone besides Santhan to go back and do this, we have to use Heavenletters starting now. Then when Santhan has a technical helper, the assistant can bring all this up to date. Santhan has more to do than any ten people can do. It’s true, Luus!

We’ll keep desiring a technical volunteer to come. Remember how a helping Dutch translator came to you because you asked?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All we need do is keep our ears and eyes open and ask anyone who has the skill for this if he/she would be willing to help, and just trust that the right person will appear at the right time.

Thank you, dear Luus, for

Thank you, dear Luus, for all your work on Heavenletters' behalf. Yes, may a technical angel arrive to help Heaven Admin take care of so many details.

Technical Angel wanted now!!! Please apply!

It might be useful that

It might be useful that Santhan indicate what technical background is needed to do this assistant work. Does it require Web programming skill, database management, knowledge of a specific programming language (web or database), etc.?

Are there things that can be done without a specific technical knowledge (importing, exporting and processing data, etc.) that can help Santhan in his upgrading of the Web site?

Data migration is a critical

Data migration is a critical part of the upgrade. For someone with strong MYSQL and PHP experience, the migration of data would be a breeze. We basically need to map the existing data of the following content types:

  • Heavenletters
  • translations of Heavenletters (maintaining the relationship to the original)
  • forum posts
  • book pages
  • Heaven sutras
  • basic pages
  • Heaven news
  • Reader Comments

into the new version of the database.

Data migration would occur in phase two of the upgrade.

Phase I, would be to plan out the foundation of the new website and categorize each functional component, into what we call a feature. For example, we would have a forum feature and that feature would be responsible for all the functionality related to creating forum posts and displaying the posts in the best way possible.

We would have a wysiwyg feature, which would take care of everything related to editing/adding content (including images and multimedia).

As it stands, we cannot add any new functionality to the current Drupal 5 website. The only type of work I do on this website is related to performance opimization. As the numbers of visitors increase, I find ways to make the website less resource intensive.

I've created a workspace on asana.com for managing the project. Anyone interested in joining in, please let me know by replying to this post and I'll send you an invite. Normand and Luus, I've already added the both of you.
