Design Your Life
When you feel hurried, you are the one who causes yourself to hurry. It is not all the things you have to do.
If you cannot keep up with all you have to do, perhaps you don’t have to do all you have given yourself to do.
Perhaps you are a hard taskmaster.
Perhaps you are trying to run a race with life.
Perhaps you are trying to be all things to everyone.
No matter how vast nor how small your arena of life, make it easy. Be easy with it.
If you are a speaker, maybe you don’t have to schedule so many speeches.
Beloveds, you are not to be at the mercy of the times you live in.
Return to the simple life in your mind.
If you really do have too much to take care of, change your life.
If you are carrying too many things in your mind, carry fewer.
Maybe you need to say No to more things and say Yes more to other things.
You are not meant to be a slave of the universe. You are meant to design your life. Pluck out the excess in your life. Pare it down. Maybe you don’t have to be perfect in everything. Maybe your house does not have to be perfect. Maybe you don’t have to be perfect either.
Sometimes, do you perhaps feel that you are on stage and that your life is a performance before a critical audience? If so, you are your critical audience. No one else.
Now is time for you to be easy on yourself. Even when you do perform on stage, never mind the critics. Enjoy yourself instead.
Be good to yourself. No one makes you overdo but yourself. If you are overworked, you have set yourself up that way. You are the one who has set the bars so high. Maybe you have set them too high.
It is not so much that you have to learn to say no to others, although you may need to learn to say no to others. You have to learn to say no to yourself. If you have taken on too much, why do you think you have to?
You must imagine some gain, or you wouldn’t do that to yourself. Perhaps you think you have to prove yourself. Perhaps you think you always have to improve yourself. You are the one who sets the metronome of your life. You are the one who cracks the whip. Only you. Even if ten people are telling you what to do, the one you have been listening to is yourself. You can be a blessing to yourself, or you can be a tyrant.
Slow down. If the train is speeding, you are the engineer who is making it go fast.
If there is too much traffic in your life, get off the freeway. Find a country lane to go down. Are you not entitled?
If you are on a treadmill in life, get off it.
If you have climbed too high a building, climb down.
Perhaps you can set a simpler table. Who said you have to serve a five-course meal? Maybe your family needs you less tense more than they need a feast.
Maybe no one imposes on you, and you alone impose on yourself.
Do what you can do, and don’t do what you can’t.
Maybe you don’t have to knock yourself out.
Maybe you can think more of fun and less of responsibility.
Make yourself responsible for going along at a moderate pace. Pay attention to your speedometer.
Prepare your path with rose petals, beloveds. I follow along with you. Make your path nice for Me.
