Go quietly amid the noise and haste of our world and remember what peace there is in silence. As far as possible and without surrendering your ideals and self-respect, try to be on good terms with all people. Speak your truth quietly and clearly. Those who have developed their inner ears for listening, and their inner eyes for seeing, will understand. Learn to listen to those around you, for when you do you may find that there is no such thing as a dull person and that even the seemingly dull ones can teach you something. At all cost, avoid loud and aggressive people, because they are vexations to our spirit. Be neither vain nor bitter about your gifts. They are as special as anyone else’s, although there will always be someone who is better or worse at certain things, than you are. Waste no time on comparing yourself with others, but enjoy your own achievements, plans, hopes and dreams.

Remain interested in life, and diligently attend to whatever task is before you. However humble they may sometimes appear, they are a valuable possession in the changing fortunes of time. Our world is full of trickery, but let that not blind you to the fact that there is just as much virtue. Be honest and fair in all your dealings and remember that what we send out always comes back. Many strive for high ideals, but do not over-look that it often requires a greater heroism to live our daily life, in faith and trust that things will change and get better; that all is well and that for our Highest Self all things are possible and that miracles do happen, if we but ask and trust.

Above all, be yourself. Never feign affection or be cynical in matters of the heart. In spite of all the aridity and disenchantment of our world, love is the Eternal evergreen of the Universe. Never allow it to die in your own heart, for it will always return in some way, even if at times it may not look like it. Only through life’s tests and trials can our capacity for loving deepen and mature. Therefore, take the counsel of the years with kindness, and surrender the things of youth with grace. Nurture yourself and develop strength of spirit in good times, so that it becomes your shield when the going gets rough. Do not distress yourself with imaginings though and bear in mind that fatigue and loneliness can be the cause of many fears.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. Know that you are a beloved child of the Universe, no less than the trees and the stars; that we all have a right to be here, because everybody has their particular lessons to learn; and that – whether we are aware of it or not – the Universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore, make peace with your soul and our Creator, whatever this means to you. And bear in mind that in our understanding of the Divine each one of us stands alone. We are all responsible for ourselves and our world; each one has to save and redeem themselves and their own soul; no-one can do it for us. That is why – whatever our aspirations in the noisy confusion of life may be – the time has come for making an effort at finding our soul’s purpose, for setting about fulfilling it and for making peace with ourselves.

When you notice that there is a lot of sham, drudgery and broken dreams in our material world, remind yourself that they all contain valuable lessons, which help our individual and collective soul to grow. So, let nothing distract you from noticing that it is a great privilege to be allowed to take part in this exquisitely beautiful world; and that in spite of everything, it is there to be enjoyed by us. Be content with your lot and remain optimistic about the good outcome of everything that is happening in our world. Know that because everything rests safely in the hands of God, it will surely all turn out well in the end – for us and our world.

D E S I D E R A T A

Geh ruhig und gelassen durch den Lärm und die Hast dieser Welt, und sei des Friedens eingedenk, der in der Stille liegt. Soweit möglich und ohne dich selbst aufzugeben, bemüh dich um gute Beziehungen zu allen Menschen. Sprich das, was du als Wahrheit erkennst ruhig und klar aus. Wer Augen zum Sehen und Ohren zum Hören hat, der wird sie auch verstehen. Hör aber auch anderen zu. Selbst scheinbar Geistlose und Unwissende können uns etwas mitteilen. Jeder, den wir treffen, ist ein Spiegel unseres inneren Selbst und kann uns etwas Wichtiges, nicht über sich, sondern über uns selbst verraten. Bedenk, dass nichts gegen den Willen Gottes geschehen kann, und dass wir andere Menschen nur treffen, weil es sein Wille ist. Über Andere zu Gericht sitzen hat noch niemanden in seiner Entwicklung vorwärts gebracht; besser ist das in den Spiegel und in sich selbst hinein schauen.

Gehe lauten und aggressiven Menschen – so weit wie möglich – aus dem Weg, denn sie sind die reinste Plage für unseren Geist. Und da es immer Größere und Geringere geben wird als wir selbst es sind, vergleich dich mit niemandem, denn das könnte dich eitel oder bitter machen. Stattdessen erfreue dich deiner eigenen Errungenschaften, Pläne, Hoffnungen und Träume. Erhalte dir dein Interesse am Leben und an deinen Aufgaben. Wie bescheiden sie dir auch vorkommen mögen, so sind sie doch ein wertvoller Besitz im Wechsel der Zeiten. Bei der Abwicklung deiner Geschäfte übe Vorsicht, denn unsere Welt steckt voller Listen und Betrügereien. Lass dich das aber den Tugenden deiner Mitmenschen gegenüber nicht blind machen. Übersieh nicht, dass Viele nach hohen Idealen streben und dass man überall im täglichen Leben wahres Heldentum erleben kann.

Was immer auch in deinem Leben geschehen mag, bleibe dir selbst treu; heuchle keine Zuneigung und werde niemals zynisch in der Liebe. Trotz aller Enttäuschungen und Perioden der Dürre ist die Liebe doch beständig wie das Gras; immer wieder kehrt sie zu zurück. Gib die Dinge der Jugend würdevoll auf. Sei dankbar für alle Erfahrungen, die das Leben dir zuteil werden lässt. Ertrage sie gelassen und lerne von ihnen. Wenn du in guten Zeiten für deinen Geist sorgst, ihn stärkst und nährst, dann wird er dich an schweren Tagen beschützen. Und was immer dein Trachten und Sehnen im Lärm und Chaos unserer Welt sein mag, erhalte dir den Frieden mit deiner Seele und rege dich nicht über Dinge auf, die es gar nicht gibt. Oft haben Ängste ihren Ursprung in Müdigkeit und Einsamkeit.

Vor Allem übe Selbstdisziplin, aber vergiss dabei nicht, auch liebevoll mit dir selbst umzugehen.. Du bist ein Kind des Universums – genau wie die Bäume und die Sterne. Du hast ein Recht, hier zu sein – genau wie sie. Und ob du dir dessen bewusst bist oder nicht, das Weltall und unsere Welt gehen ihren Gang, so wie es schon seit Urzeiten vorher bestimmt wurde. Mache darum Frieden mit unserem Schöpfer, egal was du dir darunter vorstellst. Und vergiss niemals, dass trotz allen Scheins, aller Plackereien und aller zerbrochenen Träume unserer materiellen Existenz, unsere Welt immer ein Wunder bleibt und wie schön sie ist.
