Your Body
Fatigue is a good thing. You have thought it a bad thing. Tiredness helps you to slow down. Without fatigue, you might keep running all the time. Bless fatigue when it comes to you and honor it. You can't be spending yourself all of the time. There must be pauses, and these you call sitting down, or relaxing, or sleeping. These pauses matter as much as the activity you enter into.
Exercise is wonderful. Rest is too.
Your body and mind are supposed to rest. Such pauses allow your heart to be heard more. In rest, your heart comes to the ascendancy. The beautiful beat of your heart hears itself in the quiet of rest. Not doing is as important as doing.
Of course, your attention is not solely on getting the rest you need. This is not the most important thing in your life. You do not sacrifice your life to it any more than you sacrifice your life to activity.
Getting the rest you need does not mean to coddle yourself. It means to know that your body has a limit, and that it is well to abide by it. Just as you would not yell all the time and overuse your voice, so be with your blessed body. Just as you take care of shovels and saws, take care of your body.
Love everything in the universe, and that includes your trudging body. Respect your own body, and it will be easier for you to respect other bodies. Your body is not solely made up of sinew and tissues. Your body also has a DNA made of strings of thought. Love your body. Love how it moves. Love what your hands and feet do for you. Love your five senses. Love the intricacy of your body that houses your soul for this little while on Earth.
Love your body when it moves fast and when it goes slow.
Love it when it's hungry or sated.
Just love it. Love its existence. Your body is such a servant to you. There is no other like it. The perfection of your body lies in its usage, not its appearance. But also love its appearance for through love, beauty is known.
You can encompass the whole universe all at once, but your Human body cannot. It has to take a step at a time. Your body cannot respond to everything all at once. Your body must stay within its skin. On Earth, your body is your entourage. It is your wagon that you wheel around. It has its limits, but your soul is always free to leap high buildings and back again.
Your body is the enchanted carriage Cinderella rode in.
Your body enlivens the planet which is its own body, as it were.
The world is a marching band, and you march in it.
Your body transfers from one place to another. It is ever mobile. Even in rest, it is mobile. You toss. You turn. You get hot. You get cold. And your mind dreams, and it dreams of itself.
Your soul is ever still yet ever free to go anywhere. It is not exactly that your soul escapes your body. It is not desiring to escape. It desires to go wherever it can, and it comes back before you wake so that your body knows the soul is here. Your soul doesn't need your body, but how the body requires your soul! You, yourself, are never soulless. You are soul-full, and that does not mean sad. Your body is a soul-carrier for a while. It is happy to be. Your body exists to serve your soul for the little while you are on Earth. Your body agrees to serve you.
