You Miss the Main Point, Beloveds
As you continue to grow and you look back at the past, a distance grows. You do see down a longer rifle, so to speak, and you see the past and the people in it. No matter how big a part the people in your life played, no matter how much they affected you and influenced your life, you see now that they and all the fading past have turned to dust.
Certain role-players dominated your life. They overshadowed it. And now you do begin to see that the past and the ogres and fairy godmothers in it did not really exist. The people who had great power over you have no power now. They had power then because you saw them as all-powerful. You didn't know you were the real power, and so you adapted your life to what you saw in it.
The people in your life were bigger than life. Now other people and events are bigger than life, and you are still too close to see the fallibility of all that seems to occur. Nothing really occurs, beloveds. Thoughts occur. Scenery and people come and go, and you come and go, and all the while nothing happens. All the emotion and interplay and importance you continue to put into your life are for naught. Notice I do not say your life is for naught. The fuss around it is what is for naught.
The harrowing battles you fought — where are they now, and what was the sense of them? They were mighty then, but yet they recede, and you even forgot them or they have turned into an afterthought or two. You thought your life depended on what now is a fading shadow. You thought your life depended upon your fighting, depended upon outcomes, and now you see that the figures and events you based your life on were insignificant, or at least not so significant as you used to think.
You have played many parts in your life. You have been many things. You have learned a lot, and yet you have learned nothing, for every set of circumstances that crops up sets you off anew. It takes the place of what occupied you before. You are a huge reactor to what seems huge to you at the time, and yet the huge upheavals fade into the West. All the wrangling over all the toys and all your rights — all these seem less incendiary now. And yet new little fires get started, and you're off to the races again. There really aren't fires except that you are all fired up and set the match to the wood. If you did not get so fired up, what conflagrations would there be for you to embroil yourself in?
Sometimes you run to meet life. You chase after it. Sometimes life seems to be a flood that rushes to you and catches you unawares, and yet, when all is said and done, life is much ado about nothing. Inevitably, all the turmoil is a tempest in a teapot. Flood waters recede on their own, and all the people who were like a plague to you or were a great blessing to you have moved on, and you begin to see that now.
You see the fleetingness of life in the world and do not yet see the eternalness of you. You miss the main point, beloveds. Life is about you and not all that goes on around you. Life is not about the news and the weather. Life is about you. Whatever goes on around you, you are eternal. You belong in life and not in the ravages of it. You belong in Me, beloveds, and what more is there to say?
