What You Look At, You Become
Gloria to God:
Dear Almighty Father, I wonder what You would like to tell me this morning. Unless I have a specific question, it usually is a surprise.
God:
Surprise Me!
Gloria:
Well, oh, let's talk about You!
God:
You want to know more about Me. I am very simple. There really isn't a whole lot to know. I AM. I love. I offer. I receive. I stirred the world into being when I moved.
Gloria:
You are such a Source, dear God.
God:
I am the Source from which you came.
Gloria:
Now, a selection from A Course in Miracles, and we'll see what You have to say!
A Course in Miracles, Lesson 341:
"I can attack but my own sinlessness, and it is only that which keeps me safe. Father, Your Son is holy. I am he on whom You smile in love and tenderness so dear and deep and still that the universe smiles back on You and shares Your Holiness. How pure, how safe, how holy, then, are we, abiding in Your smile, with all You love bestowed upon us, living one with You, in brotherhood and Fatherhood complete; in sinlessness so perfect that the Lord of Sinlessness conceives us as His Son, a universe of Thought completing Him."
Gloria:
Mostly what I get from this selection is Your love which I feel when I think of You.
God:
That sense of love is Our Oneness. Love is Oneness.
Oneness is like the tide of the ocean that pulls hearts to Me.
Oneness is the echo of My heart in yours.
Oneness is the first sound, the first seed, the first word, the first thought, the first motion.
Oneness is the first Truth. It is the Truth.
Gloria:
When I spoke to Ulrike on the phone the other day, she mentioned the war in Yugoslavia, and how close it was to Germany. I guess I hadn't thought the war was close to anything. I think I saw it as some kind of abstract, or a part of fiction, but something so far away from me that it really wasn't happening. That must be my denial. In truth, it must be happening right beside me or in my heart. The thought shakes me, and yet You are unshaken by events.
God:
Your view of the bombings as fiction is quite accurate. This whole play on earth is fiction. Truth doesn't move around, fluctuate, toss bombs. Death is fiction. Suffering is fiction. It is literal on the plane in which you mostly live, but that is not the only plane.
What you see is a photograph in a frame. Beyond the frame, beyond the focus of that shot, am I, Heaven, angels, and life eternal. What you see as the photograph is a a discoloration of the true picture.
Gloria:
And yet, dear God, people are being hurt and damaged.
God:
On the surface. War is surface. Really won by truth and love in the heart of man. Love the ignorant, love the hurtful, the blind, and you will lift suffering wherever it has erupted.
You feel this is an impossible task, when it is easy.
Just as you do not need to watch the local evening news, learn of a shooting or robbery or a fire, your attention does not have to be on the result of friction in the international scene. Your focus is Heaven. Send your love to the outbreak and unrest in Yugoslavia, and look to Heaven and to Me.
You are not practicing denial and avoidance. You focus on the healing of it. If you focus on distraughtness, you will become distraught. If you focus on war, you will become that vibration. If you focus on love, you will become it. If you focus on peace, you give it. If you focus on Heaven, you will have it.
What you look at, you become, if only for a moment. For a moment, what you look at becomes stuck to you. So look at what you want. Look at what you envision, and you will make it real in the world of man.
If no one had the concept of war, there would be none. If no one had the concept of war, there would be love aplenty, bountiful evident expanding love.
Gloria:
I saw a little bit of TV yesterday of an interview with a woman who espouses national unity rather than global. She said we are part of a plot to take away the United States' sovereignity, like we'd take something away from ourselves for another to have it, as though we would be taken over by Yugoslavia or whatever. That would scare me, dear Father.
God:
Then you are scared by spooks, Gloria. All the separate imagined demarcations of My children into races and nations forget that I have one Son and that there is one God. All the so-called reality of the world is diversion from truth. Play the game of war, have urgency, emergency, toy soldiers, and then no time to think or reason to think beyond the situation at the front, at the forefront of attention.
But peace will prevail. Love will reign. Oneness will be witnessed. That is the only thing that is not a fairy tale.
Ugliness is not Truth. Fear isn't. Hate is not. Anger is not. Cruelty is not.
So, please, put your attention on what is. That does not put you in an ivory tower. That puts you in truth. See beyond what the eye ses. See beyond newsprint. See the Heavens opening up. See the saint in his cave. See the good weavers of life. Be a peacemaker. Love as truly as you can.
Gloria:
Dear Mother Divine, I surely don't want to talk to you of war and havoc.
Mother Divine:
There is the reality, and there is the dance. The dance is for a moment. It varies from song to song, rhythm to rhythm. Do not mistake the dance for the reality.
The closer the dance is to God's Will, the more who will join in.
Be not dismayed over events in the world. Events are happenings in space and time, and space and time do not exist and neither do the points marked on them.
Share God's Will, and give Him your allegiance. That is your Faith. Giving your heart to God in trust and in knowingness.
God is forever. The rest is a fly-swat. Concern yourself with God and what He wants you to do.
Smile back to God.
Later…
Gloria to God:
Dear God, I had the thought, perhaps insight, that all the things in the world that divert us from attention on You are deliberate for that purpose. We created all the diversions so we would NOT know You, so we could keep our imagined sovreignity. I don't know if I have expressed what I mean. It is not that the diversions innocently take our attention away from You. We create the diversions to take us away from You.
For example, if I were solid with You, dear Father, the diversions would not exist for me at all. Perhaps that is what A Course in Miracles talks about. The world, as we know it, would recede, and You would shine.
God:
This has a lot of truth, dear Gloria. And it puts responsibility right back on your shoulders, doesn't it?
Gloria:
Ouch, yes!
God:
In one instant, you could have all of Me right before you. In one instant of pure consciousness, all you would see is My Light.
Gloria:
Dear Mother Divine, what would you like to say this fine evening?
Mother Divine:
How close are the words "seek" and "see". You say, "I seek You, God." God says, "See Me. I'm right here."
Seek implies somewhere, another place where you have to hunt and find. See implies that it is all here in front of you, and it takes just a little opening of your heart in order to see what you have been seeking. God sees the seeker. Does the seeker see God? God's Light is directly before you, in plain view. Catch a hold of God's Light and make it yours. He offers it to you. He hands it to you. He pushes it into your hand, and you drop it, unnoticed. And God tries again and again until one day you awake and see God's Light in the palm of your hand.
