The Music You Choose, the Flowers You Pick

God said:

Sometimes you make decisions by default. You can’t seem to make a decision, so you make none. It could well be that by default, you made the right decision. I say right in terms of how you perceive. You might not have changed a situation but stayed in it. Years later, you may be wondering how different your life might be now had you had made a leap you did not.

Understand, beloveds, had you taken the leap, years later, you could also be wondering how different your life might be now had you stayed where you were and not made the change you did.

These are not loose ends, beloveds. You moved, or you didn’t move. Or, you moved in one direction and not another. What your life might have been had you taken a different turn in the road is for poets and fiction writers to imagine whereas, for you, in your own life, you gathered the roses as you did, and there is no return to yesteryear. There are different roses to gather now.

If you regret, stop regretting. Right at this moment what is done is done. And yet there are other choices before you now. Every day you are making choices. Every day you choose your life. You choose your life with your perceptions, beloveds, and your perceptions create your thoughts, and your thoughts create your perceptions. If you don’t like the tune you are singing, you can always sing a different tune.

Consider that you have background music running all the time. What kind of music have you put on? Marching band? Dirge? Waltzes? Happy tunes? You have a choice as to what record you put in the victrola of your mind. What background music do you play? Do you choose, “Woe is me,” or do you choose, “Happy days are here again.” What do you choose to play over and over?

It matters the records you play.

I would like to suggest that you throw out the old records. I would like to suggest that you don’t keep a collection nor start another collection. I would like to suggest that you find a new and better record every day, and put it on. Turn the volume up.

What are you listening to, beloveds?

There is a lot of beautiful music out there. You have a lot of choices. And all you have to do at any moment is to choose one song. That’s all. Just one.

Every day, life holds out a bouquet to you and asks you to choose one flower at a time. You find out more about yourself by the flowers you pick. Surely you wouldn’t pick withered flowers, and yet the old flowers of thoughts that have outlived their usefulness somehow get picked, and sometimes over and over again.

I would like to move you to choose the fresh young bloom before you. Why not? It costs the same. Actually, it costs less. Actually, it costs nothing at all.

All you have to do is to put your hand out and pick one fresh flower at a time. And tomorrow you are offered a bouquet again from which to choose. You can pick flowers you have never picked before, perhaps never seen before. You know what, pick the loveliest flower of all. Just reach your hand out, and take it.

Choose a flower of a beautiful color, a color you like to look at. Choose a sweet scent that you like to breathe in. Choose what, in your moment of choice, is the loveliest flower of all. And if all the flowers are supreme, pick them all and pin them to your lapel.

Pick the loveliest flower of all.

Just reach your hand out and take it.

Beautiful.
Blessings Beloved & Gloria

You find out more about yourself by the flowers you pick.

You choose your life with your perceptions, beloveds, and your perceptions create your thoughts, and your thoughts create your perceptions.

Does telling the past help making meaninful choices? Does understanding or working through my biography help me make meaningful choices? In my experience, quite to the contrary. It never delivers the goods. Whenever I tried to come to grips with my past through reading, writing, therapy and whatnot, I was really trying to avoid the reality of This, I was trying to escape God, suspecting they are the end of me. They are, of course, for who am I without my story? Nothing, no one. No, my story is who I am, I will keep it at all cost. If God wants to be part of it, fine.

Now it turns out that without reheating and stirring my story, whithout one backward glance, the importance of me evaporates and I'm God. Hey, what a nice turn of events. I think I'll have Brahms with that. And later on, just some whistling of my own.

every day

"Every day you choose your life".
Will I ever accept that my actions of today are not seeding my future, unless I believe so? There is no cause effect relation, no linear time, no straight connections amongs events. Every moment we start anew.
If I only could believe that!

Dear Carmen, Your humble and beautiful words of devotion bring tears to my eyes. Thank You for the inspiration. Thank You Beloved. Blessings

You are so right, Viola. I

You are so right, Viola. I wanted to express the same thing and am delighted to see you have already done so. I feel that those of us who don't have so many questions but are able to simply follow God's words and love are the ones who, in a certain sense, carry the rest of us who are still in doubt and groping and trying to make sense of it all. The path to simplicity and innocence may look a bit longer for them. We will all get there, of course.

who carries who

Three considerations.
Sometimes I feel carried or pushed or inspired by those who would not be commonly considered innocent and simple.
Shadows are so essential to light, to the awareness of being light. They announce the light and carry it, in a sense.
Those with many questions and doubts may well be carrying other's luggage too. Someone has to do the hard work.

Absolutely, dear one.

Absolutely, dear one. No comparison intended. Just grateful for everyone and their indispensable contribution.

Dear Gloria,
I LOVE the idea/truth that I have background music playing all the time. I have a poem called "I Feel Hummy." Similar idea, but humming is a bit vague and mushy. Words often help more. Today I am singing "A, I'm Adorable" to myself. Actually I have a list (somewhere) of old popular songs I can easily adapt to self-love songs. If you are interested, I'll find it and send you the titles. "On the Street Where I Live" becomes the silliest, but silly is great, right? Thank you for your marvelous letters. Thank you for this one.

Love,
Mary Feagan

Definitely eager to have

Definitely eager to have these songs, dear Mary. Please post them here where everyone can see them and I can find them!

I came across this terrible quotation which emphasizes the need for a change of tune:

"Perhaps the only true dignity of man is his capacity to despise himself." George Santayana

Yes, please show us some better tunes! Send lyrics, dear Mary.

Here are the lyrics. It really makes a difference to watch the video instead of just reading the lyrics. Just not the same energy at all :) The interactions in the video are very inspiring.

Rob Thomas - Someday Lyrics
You can go
You can start all over again
You can try to find a way to make another day go by
You can hide
Hold all your feelings inside
You can try to carry on when all you want to do is cry
[Chorus]
And maybe someday
We’ll figure all this out
Try to put an end to all our doubt
Try to find a way to make things better now and
Maybe someday we’ll live our lives out loud
We’ll be better off somehow
Someday
Now wait
And try to find another mistake
If you throw it all away then maybe you can change your mind
You can run, oh
And when everything is over and done
You can shine a little light on everything around you
Man it’s good to be so warm
[Chorus]
And I don’t want to wait
I just want to know
I just want to hear you tell me so
Give it to me straight
Tell it to me slow
Cause maybe someday
We’ll figure all this out
We’ll put an end to all our doubt
Try to find a way to just feel better now and
Maybe someday we’ll live our lives out loud
We’ll be better off somehow
Someday
[x2]
Cause sometimes we don’t really notice
Just how good it can get
So maybe we should start all over
Start all over again

God, the Supreme Optimist :)
There are so many flowers to choose from. Red rose, violets, lotus :), yellow rose, broccoli flower (even if the taste is not that awesome), and all so pretty. I'm so going to take the loveliest flowers and pin them on my lapel :).

Dear Felicia, when I taught

Dear Felicia, when I taught Creative Writing, I used to give this assignment:

If you were a flower, which flower would you be and why?

And once we went outside -- there was a woods nearby -- and everyone found a tree that was right for them and to tell why. What they wrote was fabulous!

Again, for everyone's information, Felicia is Heavenletters' now 15-year old Indonesian translator. Thank you, Felicia.

:) They must have had

:) They must have had greatly creative imagination.

thank you Felicia
