The Missing Piece of Yourself
Gloria to God:
Dear God, I did my asanas before anything this morning, and I certainly do feel better. They took me twice as long — twenty minutes — because I spaced out.
God:
Let them take as long as it takes. Do them.
Gloria:
Dear Father, I got the impression from something Karen said that human life seems to be a search for You in others — a search away from loneliness — and we keep finding that there is no one out there who can assuage our sense of aloneness for very long. This, perhaps, is the lesson of life? Is this what we are here for?
God:
In a way. Nothing is outside you. You have tried to have others plug the missing pieces of yourself. You want wholeness. You look for it where it is not. You keep hitting your head up against this.
It is a paradox. People do need people; you are not meant to be on an island alone. Each of the people you meet is your teacher, and they are there to teach you something about yourself.
And yet, all this takes place within you. The missing piece of yourself is your acceptance of Me as your Friend, and your reacceptance and reacceptance as you climb that golden ladder Mother Divine spoke about.
You feel that you are in a race to find Me, but I did not set up a race format.
Stroll to Me. That is fine. Wind around in your life and meet your lessons and learn and go on to another. It is simple. Live your life and remember Me. A simple formula.
Gloria:
God, a lot of the time we don't know the name of the lesson. If we knew what it was, it would be a lot easier.
God:
Maybe your lesson is to identify your lessons.
Gloria:
God, how does someone know when his lesson is to give in or to not give in?
God:
Never give in. Don't make someone else give in either. Find another way to look at it.
Gloria to Mother Divine:
Dear Mother Divine, what would you like to say to me this morning?
Mother Divine:
Good morning!
Gloria:
Lauren said a lovely thing to me this morning. I said I don't know how Karen happened to me because things like that simply don't happen to me! Lauren said, "They do now."
Mother Divine:
Your daughter is quite right. Rocky roads are behind you. Smooth sailing ahead.
Gloria:
Aren't there always bumps?
Mother Divine:
That is true. There are. But they will not seem like rocks in your way because your legs are longer!
Listen to me now. Good is in store for you. All the readers listen to me particularly. Good is in store for you now. Carry this one thought with you today. Look for the good, trip over it, and enjoy it.
This is the day God gave to you to spend in His grace.
His joy is in giving you presents.
Take life not so seriously — to what avail?
Take it less seriously, and you will have more joy.
Light begets light.
Light attracts light.
Let your heart be a firefly today.
Let it light up with everyone and everything that befalls you today.
Go on a picnic. Languish in the minute of life today.
Today embark on a journey of love. The ship you sail is named God's Love. Stand on the prow and face the wind. Sail on the high seas.
A Course in Miracles, Who are Their Pupils? (cont.):
"Time really, then, goes backward to an instant so ancient that it is…beyond all memory. Yet because it is an instant that is relived again and again and still again, it seems to be now. And thus it is that pupil and teacher seem to come together in the present, finding each other as if they had not met before. The pupil comes at the right time to the right place. This is inevitable, because he made the right choice in the ancient instant which he now relives. So has the teacher, too, made an inevitable choice of an ancient past. God's Will is in everything but seems to take time in the working out. What could delay the power of eternity?"
Gloria:
Wow! God, this seems to make clear that we don't really have to do much but follow You. That is the trick. There was a moment with You at the beginning of time/creation when decisions were made, and now they appear.
Does that mean that millions of years ago You decided, and I agreed, that HEAVEN would be on a web page etc.?
God:
Yes.
Gloria:
If it had not taken me this long to "remember", HEAVEN could have been on a web page centuries ago?
God:
Yes. The whole course of history could have changed.
Gloria:
Even when there weren't computers?
God:
There would have been equivalent.
Gloria:
I am lost. I am totally lost in this.
God:
No, you are found in this. Think of past lives as swimming through the ocean. What is the difference in the water where you swam a minute ago and where you swim now?
Gloria:
But centuries ago, I was not able to remember our agreement.
God:
There are no past centuries. If you can remember now, you could have remembered in what you call then. If time is an illusion, Gloria, it is an illusion.
Gloria:
Could Einstein have discovered relativity if there were no trains?
God:
Yes.
Gloria:
So, back to HEAVEN, internet would not have been needed to send Your words out?
God:
Correct. Who is the Doer? It is I. I existed in the so-called then as well as in the named now. If you had remembered sooner, the messages would simply have been sent sooner.
Gloria:
What about group consciousness and world consciousness?
God:
If you had remembered sooner, others would have had their remembering sooner.
Gloria:
Did I remember, or was there an alarm to go off when it did so that I would think I had remembered? I mean, was it programmed to go off when it did?
God:
The alarm beeped you periodically. You could have remembered at any moment your soul chose.
Gloria:
My soul was the alarm?
God:
Your personality as such did not exist centuries ago. Your soul did.
Breaking boundaries. You are breaking boundaries. What are boundaries? I'll name some — time, space, ideas, beliefs, self-image, bodies… Tell Me what is unbounded?
Gloria:
Love.
God:
So you remembered love, Gloria. You remembered that everyone else was yourself, and so you stepped out into a web page because you remembered you are everyone and everything everywhere. You reached your hand up to My heart and pulled it to yours.
I think you have explored enough unknown territory and exploded enough boundaries this morning!
And now comes unstressing! And now comes releasing. You can make it rough or smooth. You can do anything.
Later…
Gloria to God:
Dear God, getting used to this new program and HTML so that HEAVEN will be easier for people to read has had me practically in tears. I seem to get so nervous with the computer when I can't do it. It would seem to me that someone who can hear from you so nicely would not get so frustrated by a new computer program.
God:
But it appears that you do. Perhaps instead of thinking of your frustration, you could think of Me. You have also been frustrated about time, that you have too much to do in too little time. I suggested once before that you do not have too much to do but too much thinking of what you have to do. Be simple. Do what you can as you can. What benefit is there in frustrating yourself? Events outside you do not frustrate. Only you can frustrate you.
Gloria to Mother Divine:
Dear Mother Divine, the idea is that my words are in gray and italicized, God's in navy blue, and yours in violet. What would you like to say to me tonight?
Mother Divine:
Perhaps italicized and not italicized will be enough to help people know who is talking when.
