The Choices You Make
Besides My love, all you have is your thoughts. Your thoughts rule the roost. Whatever you think about, it reigns. When you think about the loss of a loved one, you feel loss. If you did not know your loved one had left you or passed away, you would be feeling something other than loss. If you did not interpret a loved one’s leaving as loss, you would not be feeling loss.
When you win the lottery, you experience it as gain. And yet it is loss of something as well, but you are looking at the sudden burst of wealth. You are not looking at all that goes with wealth, only the immediate spurt of joy.
When you get what you have wanted, you are thrilled. It is not actually the event that thrills you, however, for events are dispassionate. You are thrilled by your thoughts.
When you do not get what you want, or you get something you definitely do not want, you are dismayed by your thoughts. It is like you fish for thoughts with the reel of your mind in your hand. What kind of fish in the sea do you want to catch? What kind of thoughts do you want to have?
What you perceive as loss can be interpreted in many ways. Do not fear being heartless. It is not heartless to transform what you have seen as loss into freedom. You see loss as a door being slammed shut in your face. You could interpret loss as the opening of a new door on a new threshold. From observation and osmosis, you have learned that loss is to weep over. What you have learned, you can unlearn.
From what lens do you look? How big is your vision? Absence does not have to be taken as loss.
Cannot every event or development be viewed as a success? Where did the idea of failure come from? It seems to Me that you too often feel that you have failed. Or you feel you will fail, so, even in success, you fear failure. Even in the midst of plenty, you fear lack.
What do events really have to do with you except as you say they do?
You like to think that I am on your side according to the roll of dice in the world. I have more than one roll of the dice up My sleeve, beloveds.
When anything can be interpreted any way you choose, then why not interpret everything in a good light? This is not pretending. This is not away from reality. This is Reality.
If you prefer a certain color, you would choose it, wouldn’t you? If you prefer a certain kind of candy, you would choose it over one you don’t like, wouldn’t you? And yet, somehow, when it comes to how you think, you think you are to choose a dark interpretation. You would favor darkness over light. You would choose trouble over happiness. You would choose gloom over glee.
Begin to see the wonder and beauty in everything. Life is full of trades, beloveds. Make the trade you want. You do not have to buy into the negative. You are not somehow better to do so. Gold is better than tin. This is as true for your interpretation of life as it is for anything else. Put the spin on matters that you would like to have. Think the best of others, and think the best of whatever occurs in life.
You have one destination, and the destination is Heaven. You are on your way. Think of that.
