Question about #5569

Hi Gloria,

How are you these days?

I am working on Heavenletters # 5569 and encounter one question. Here I past the paragraph below:

"It is not precisely self-esteem that We are speaking of now. You don't have to esteem yourself. You don't have to adulate yourself. You belong here on Earth. You are supposed to be here. You are supposed to take up the space you do. In the sense I am speaking of, you don't have to earn it. You were born to it, and it is yours. You are not meant to be a beggar of love and respect. You are here on Earth to learn to love and respect yourself."

Please see those two sentences in bold and italic:
You don't have to esteem yourself.
You are here on Earth to learn to love and respect yourself.

Esteem yourself and respect yourself are same? To my understanding, literally they are same. But maybe there are something I don't know. I believe God is telling us not to esteem our ego self, but to respect our true Self? My understanding is correct? Please confirm.

Beloved Cat, you make a good point.

The way I see is more on connotation and emphasis. It's a subtle difference.

We are all to respect and love ourselves. I believe God says this often.

Sometimes people who do not have this basic respect for themselves (there are too many of us) then may need to bolster themselves with self-esteem. The way I see it, the word self-esteem may veer on a shade of ego. We might say that someone is stuck on himself. Maybe has a touch more of self-esteem than serves.

This is how I see the meaning, dear Cat.

Your connotation may be different, and you are entitled. If this is the case, then think of this usage as a matter of emphasizing the point. An example might be in regular life that the mother says to the child: Be sure to share your snack and give some to your friends. The two words Share and Give mean pretty much the same.

Does this help any, dear Chinese translator?

Thanks for this wonderful team work!

Gloria,

A very clear explanation.

Thank you dear

Hi,

I believe that, God has given us own space and liberty to use. We have to search the state in which we feel our self with esteem.

For respect, God has provided us the person who is matching with ourselves who gives us Love & Respect. So, it is our duty to find them and make relation with them and maintain that as much we can do with them.

Yes, God has given us our own free will. No doubt of this.

There is a connotative distance between self-esteem and self-worth. A sense of self-worth gives a sense of value. Self-esteem may lean toward ego. This is the connotation, you understand.

Dear Pranov, read the guidelines for posting on the forum here. They are clear. There is no promoting on this forum. We do not self-promote nor do we invite promotion of other spiritual sources, no matter how wonderful they are. There are many wonderful ones. God is the Teacher here. Thank you.
