Planet Earth Is like a Playground
Life is lived in raindrops. So many fall at once. Where do raindrops come from and where do they go? Rain may be unforeseen, and then suddenly rain is here. And then just as suddenly, the rain is gone and not even a wet spot left.
There are so many lives on Earth, and they come and they go. When you look at life from that angle, life seems purposeless to you. If it is only flow and nothing left and not even real while it is happening, why does life on Earth exist? For what? If life on Earth is so temporary, you wonder why you are here and what is the point of it. Of course, rain waters the Earth and sustains life on Earth. But why does a planet need you? What is your place in it? What purpose do you serve, and why is this life on Earth such a big deal, and done and over with too soon even while it seems you have been here a long long time, perhaps forever?
You wonder, if you did come from Heaven, why would you leave? Why did life on Earth have to be? Why did you have to be here and go through all that you have gone through and worry about what else you will go through until you are through with your body? You want to keep your body as long as possible, yet you don't want to grow old. Life presents dilemmas for you, no doubt about that. And what can you do about it anyway?
Even if you can accept that your purpose in being here is to be here, you are still bamboozled. What kind of an answer is that? You are here because you are here. As to what you can do about it anyway, you can make it the best life you can. You can be the best you can be. You can give something back even when you do not last and no one will remember that you were here and when you, least of all, are able to fathom why you are here.
You light a candle, and the candle burns, and then the candle burns out. What was it for? Of course, the candle was nice while it was burning.
You feel you are no more than ocean waves that disperse. Did each wave really matter? Does the ocean need waves at all, for, of course, the ocean is the Ocean. What does it need waves for?
And yet the Earth does need you, doesn't it? It seems to think so. The Earth itself considers you are a precious guest. It likes you to walk on it. It likes you to live on it.
The planet Earth is like a playground. Even a playground of cement wants children to play on it. The very Earth itself loves having you. The Earth does not quite understand you. It doesn't grasp why you are not more well-pleased. The Earth revolves around the sun and is happy. How come, the Earth wonders, that you on Earth, you who are able to move your legs and go where you want, you who have choices, why aren't you always happy? This is a real mystery to the Earth. It too asks: If you are not happy with life on Earth, then what are you doing here?
We could say you are here to learn to be happy in a physical body. You were always happy when you were not encased in a body. Why, why, do you have to have the body then?
You have to have it because a question has been asked, and you are finding out the answer to the question you asked.
