Oh, yes, forgiveness. There are many Heavenletters on forgiveness. You mentioned #2042, You Are Not a Dragon to me recently. I hadn’t even realized that that was about forgiveness! In other Heavenletters, God says we are not wonderful to forgive, which is a new slant on it. Better to not have taken offense in the first place, He says.
 
A strong subscriber, Lois Einhorn www.loiseinhorn.com, wrote a book on forgiveness, Forgiveness and Child Abuse: Would YOU Forgive? Many points of view from many well-known people are represented in Lois’ book, including Bernie Siegel, M.D., and Heavenletters. I think we can all agree that forgiving isn’t always easy.
 
Then there is a book I read once with twelve true stories of common people who gave extraordinary forgiveness.  I don’t remember the title of the book, but the author was Gerald Jampolsky.
 
The story I most remember is of a mother whose 21-year old son was shot to death by his friend who was on drugs at the time. When the killer's parole hearings would come up, she was there to prevent his parole etc. She hated her son’s murderer with a passion.
 
At some point she realized that she couldn't live this way. She was ruining her health etc. The long and the short of it is that she met with her son's murderer. They cried together. She became his staunchest supporter. And when he was finally released from prison, she went to pick him up and take him home with her, and now she had another son, and he had a mother.
 
She was an ordinary person who became remarkable.
 
Such stories always thrill me.
