Some questions are harder than others, and some are easier. This is one of the easier ones.

Toss does mean throw. But not throw away which refers more to getting rid of something like an old dress or a piece of paper.

Toss has a lighter meaning. We toss a tennis ball. We could toss a piece of paper into the wastepaper basket. It's a light toss as someone might want to toss a piece of paper from a distance and get it into the basket.

In the case of a potter's wheel, the common expression is to say -- toss clay on the potter's wheel. If you have ever seen someone first toss the clay onto the potter's wheel, it is a light toss.

Victoria, I moved your questions to a new topic in this forum. Look for "Victoria: Need Clarification". With new questions it is better to start a whole new topic so it gets noticed easier and is more useful to other people who might have the same question.

If you start a new topic, it helps to give the Heavenletter number and title. Also helps to cut and paste the whole paragraph containing what you are asking about. You're doing great, it takes time to figure all this out, or to "get the hang of it". Watch how other people do it, tho the other new translators are learning too.
