Like a Surprise Lily

Gloria to God:

Dear God, sorry to bother you with this, but I have an excruciating pain in my right leg and hip. I can hardly walk. When I move the wrong way, I scream. I can't sleep with the pain. Will You please help me?

God:

Dear one, when you were going through your emotional struggle, you kept thinking: "I'm in pain. I'm in pain." Now the pain has manifested into the physical.

This pain will take its course. It is not serious. You have not broken your hip or any of those other things you fear.

Look to this leg pain as you would to a hurt child. The leg hurts. It is a weeping child. Comfort it.

The child is you, at perhaps nine years old, and you fell and really hurt your leg. There was no one to comfort you. Now comfort yourself.

Love that leg and love the pain because it is your screams coming out.

Comfort the nine-year-old you and love her. Let her talk to you. Listen to her, and let her come back into your heart so you are whole.

Gloria:

Thank You. Karen said that commitment to You is being attached only to You and not others. Do I understand that as one commits themselves to You, then their attachments to others fall away?

God:

Your heart becomes so full of Me, you do not attach to others. Or, put it this way: My love in you is so full that you give My love to others. The love you hold and give is Mine and is not attached to another.

Attachment is like cotton candy. Do you really want it to stick to you or you to it?

As you have attached to others, others have attached to you.

Ask them to release you as you release others.

Gloria:

Dear God, I realize from my recent attachment trials that the other person's attention and energy on me became my self-love. I was grand and wonderful because of their focus on me. When their love and attention and energy on me were seemingly withdrawn, I was bereft. I felt dismal because I did not have self-love of my own.

I realize I can learn to love me all by myself. And why would I need someone else's love on me in order for me to give love?

Maybe my love for another is my love for myself. Maybe my love for myself is Your love for me. Maybe my love for another is Your love for them.

I begin to understand how pure love is not dependent upon anything. It is Your love anyway.

God:

Anything that is not love is a distraction. Pure love is undistracted. It is a laser-beam of purity. It is dependent on nothing but its own lightingness.

Pure love is clear waters.

Mother Divine will tell you more about pure love.

Mother Divine:

It is weightless. It takes up no room. It is full of nothing, and empty of everything.

Pure love is like a surprise lily. There are no trappings with it.

It is a sun that shines whether other suns shine or not.

Pure love asks only to be. It asks for nothing but to shine. It has no requirements, no conditions, no hidden clauses.

It is a pure color. It is unmixed.

Pure love cuts a wide swath. It alights on all in its path. It sweeps the earth.

Pure love is God's love. Everyone has it, only it's been covered up, smudged, hammered down. Polish the tarnished silver, and tarnish is gone.

Tarnish is a kind of fatigue that comes after long disuse.

Unless love is pure, it is like a bird with clipped wings. It is a disappointment. It is a burden.

Love is pure when there is no cost for it and no expenditure of it.

Pure love is Is-ness, dependent upon nothing but its own glow.

It needs not the glow of others.

It doesn't needs its flames fanned.

It gives away nothing, but it is everything. It shines itself, and that is its glory. Its reward is its own ability to beam.

There is a lovely bird of love in every heart, and that bird wishes to sing its song. All it takes for the bird to sing is freedom.

If the bird of your heart must have this or that, then it is not free.

All it needs is itself and its song.

Expectations weigh it down. Demands, to or from. Commands. Obligation.

Oh, if the bird could fly to sing where it willed!

Unfetter it, and it will.

Your hearts are being unfettered.

Cutting the chains that bind, those familiar chains, hurts.

What goes on with you has nothing to do with anyone else. You only think so. What goes on with you has everything to do with you.

You are the decider. God is the Offerer.

You steer your own sailboat of life.

The ocean is the same.

The sailboats, no matter what their exterior, are the same. The winds are the same.

A good sailor keeps his eye on the direction he is going.

When you know your direction, then all you have to do is follow it.

All the sailboats are tugboats pulled by God.

Try to go in another direction, and things are hard.

Go with God. Go for the ride, as it were, and you have smooth sailing.

Sail the ship of your heart, and a bird will fly from it and show you the way you want to go.

The shore is quite near. Just there, right over the horizon. A stone's throw. Well within reach.

You are on an ocean voyage. How long does it take to reach shore?

Only as long as it takes you to see it.
