Gloria to God:

Dear God, I print here an email from Nancy in Pennsylvania. It begins with comments on Your recent message to her, and then she shares a message You gave her directly. Her email ends with a follow-through question she asks me to ask You. (I just want to mention that Nancy was in the first Ask God Workshop two years ago, back when it was still called Communicating with God Workshop.)

Nancy:

I wanted to comment more on my reactions to God's answer to my question about my fear of losing my husband.

He said: "You need no one but Me. You have no one but Me."

I guess I really know that, and that I am borrowing Tom for now. I will thank God every day for Tom. I guess sometimes I do feel that I need Tom with me in social situations. I feel that Tom lightens me up; otherwise I get too serious. I sometimes feel that I am not enough unless I have Tom with me.

God says that I lift my eyes only so far. He says: "Lift them higher."

In the answer God gave you for me, I loved the part where He said: "Set Me on your table like a centerpiece, and you and your husband sit down and hold hands, but know that I am the centerpiece on your table. Accept My love, Nancy, for I have given it to you. You are the love of My life. Drink at My fountain, carry My holy waters and sprinkle them on your life."

God also said that I am afraid to look at Him. I know He is right. I asked God what I am afraid of, and this is the answer He gave me:

God:

You are afraid of yourself. Closer to Me is closer to yourself. You are afraid of what you might find if you really get closer to yourself. Nancy, I tell you, if you get closer to yourself you will find strength. You will find love, and you will find honesty. But, most of all, you will find Me.

Nancy:

How do I get closer to You and closer to myself?

God:

Slow down. Stop frantically running from one activity to another. Slow down to appreciate the blessings I have placed all around you. Take time to honor yourself. Take time to honor others. You are beginning to do that. The love you seek I have already placed in your heart. I am there. Come and find Me in your heart. I am all that you need.

Nancy:

Gloria, will you ask God if there is more that I was not able to get?

Gloria:

Dear God, is there more You would like to tell Nancy?

God:

There is gobs more! But Nancy is doing very well now. She is listening. The key is her listening. That makes her a receiver. A listener hears. A receiver accepts. A learner grasps. A heart opens to truth. The truth is your magnificence, Nancy, and you haven't quite gotten that yet.

And, yes, remember that Tom belongs to Me, himself, and he is not yours.

Tom has a bodily form given the name husband, given the name Nancy's husband. But he is My son.

For Nancy, who has ownership issues, better to not even think you have borrowed him from the library. Think of him as a book you have come across and are leafing through. He is not even on loan to you, dear Nancy.

He is someone you have come across.

As for the social situations where you feel you need him, you need Me.

Do not substitute Tom for Me.

What are social situations anyway but other forms of Me in a passing group?

Remember, there is nothing you have to be but Nancy. You are not there to get votes. You are there to enjoy and give joy. Enjoy comes first.

Your enjoying can be quiet. You can sit and enjoy and spread joy. You can look out the window and spread joy within the room.

Again, the name "social situation", like the name "husband", confounds you.

You, like Gloria and many others, have an enormous fear of rejection. Anyone who would seem to reject you is trying to bolster his own fainting heart. He has forgotten why he is there.

You do not need to go to a party to be liked. Go to a party to like.

You can go to a party and be. You don't even have to be Nancy. You can just be. Think of being, not seeming. You are a God-being.

Shoot out quiet love, and let it fall on those passing hearts.

Think a moment. Why are you at a social gathering? You are there for Me.

Each person in that room is seeking Me, Nancy. Through your quietness, they may find a glimpse of Me.

You are everywhere in the universe as a representative of Me.

You are part of the God Embassy. You know you have been appointed. Everyone has been appointed, but not everyone knows.

The whole world is My Embassy. The Embassy of Heaven in a land called Earth.

You are ambassadors of Good Will. And Good Will is God Will.

Carry out your assignment, Nancy. You are on earth for joy, and all else follows.

Think a moment, Nancy, of your intrinsic strength (Mine), independent of what you surround yourself with. Your home is not your strength. Money is not your strength. Your husband is not your strength. You are your strength. I, in you, am your strength. I am also your love. There is no other.

You and I walk the world, arm and in arm, and We witness its majesty.
