Italian translations

I just came back from my holidays and to my surprise I discovered that I hadn't received any of the almost 30 translations I sent to the usual address to cover my absence. I wrote to Gloria about this, but maybe she is absent at the moment. I wonder whether the subscribers received any of the translations during this period. Maybe Nancy or someone else can tell me what happened???.

Love,
Paula

Dearest, I am traveling and

Dearest, I am traveling and have internet access only when I go to cyber cafe! Thank you and Nancy and Luus for all your conscientiousness.

I did just write an email to all of you in response to your dear email, Paula. I am unable to send from my regular email program (can receive) and have to send from gmail. Will send in a moment with apologies for the irregular formatting that goes out.

Thanks for everything, beloved Paula.

We were worrying about you,

We were worrying about you, Paula, because there were no translations while I knew you had been working ahead for your vacation. I recall that in the past years you used to post them on the forum before you left, and once or twice you had Berit who helped you with the translations during your holidays. Anyway, no Italian translations were sent out during the past three weeks and if you only sent them to it [at] heavenletters [dot] org this may be the cause. Also Mauro wondered what was going on with you, and now it seems there was a lack of communication.

I could not post them on the

I could not post them on the forum because they had not been published in English yet. Doesn't Mauro send them out from the address where I send them? What is this address for then, if not for sending out the translations? I guess I took for granted that things would work out as they'd always done in the past years. I apologize to all the subscribers and anyone involved.

I think the reason why we

I think the reason why we need to send our translations to the language email address isso that there will be always a complete file of them.
Anneke and I always send our translations to each other so that in case of need Anneke can post them under "translations" for me and I for Anneke, however, then the "wrong" name will appear but this can be corrected.
What I think you might do next year is communicate with Nancy and ask her if she could post your translations for you on the forum, for she knows how to get the correct name on them. If she would not be able to do this, then I could do it and Nancy would then teach me how to get your name on your translations. When sending them out the name is not a problem.
We talked about your learning how to send your own translations out, and Nancy would be more than happy to teach you. It will only take a minute to send them out and then you will always be sure they went out. And whenever you're not able to send them out yourself, we will cover for you.

In this moment I have

In this moment I have problems with my email system which refuses to send out emails. I can receive them but not send them. So, that will have to wait for now.
In the meantime, I told Gloria that we could start sending out the missing translations. I have already posted two of the translations (4609 and 4610) on the forum. Is there anyone who could send them to the subscribers?

(I am almost ready to give up....)

It is Mauro who uses to send

It is Mauro who uses to send out your translations during the week and Nancy during the weekend. I will make sure that Santhan and Mauro are informed that your are "back!!".

I, too, am overwhelmed with

I, too, am overwhelmed with computer difficulties. Right now, I am traveling. I am able to receive on my regular email program (Outlook) but, like you, I cannot send. So frustrating!

What I do is extra work, but it works!

Get a gmail.com account. Send from gmail.

Watch out for how they format. I sent you an email from gmail, and you will see what I mean.

Please keep us posted, dear dear Paula. And what did Winston Churchill say? "Never never ever give up."

Paula, your subscribers want you and Heavenletters want you.

This struggle will not last forever.

Maybe someone who reads this knows a solution. My daughter suspects that my difficulty comes from the particular internet service provider of hers. I was thinking that as well, but, you know, when Heaven Admin and I were traveling in Europe, now that I think of it, I had the same difficulty. Hmm.

Loving you, dear Paula.

Gloria

Dear Luus, you and Anneke

Dear Luus, you and Anneke always rise to the occasion!

Let's see what Maura can tell us.

God bless us all!

I have difficulty in

I have difficulty in understanding what is going on. Is it related to the rebuilt of the mail server? I think the explanation must come from Santhan or Mauro.

Yesterday I received the

Yesterday I received the first one of the missing translations. THANK YOU to anyone who sent it out.

Dear Paula, it is Mauro who

Dear Paula, it is Mauro who generously sends your translations out in his own time and for free, so it is him to whom you addressed your THANK YOU.

Beloved Paula, how is your

Beloved Paula, how is your computer working now? Can you send out?

Loving you, Gloria

This is what happened ...

Dear Normand, since I was involved all the time and know the most of it, I will tell you what happened.
In June Paula asked me where she could find the Heavenletters in the queue since she was preparing for her vacation and needed to translate ahead. So I sent her every new Heavenletter I received fromTtheophil to make sure that she would have enough. Then suddenly it seemed she was gone since no Italian translations were posted on the forum and Mauro nor Nancy could send them out. Nancy and Gloria got worried and Gloria sent Paula an email in order to find out what was going on. Then Santhan asked us if we knew what was going on since Mauro also was puzzled.
Now that Paula has returned from her holidays it is clear what went wrong and next year we will make sure that her translations will be sent out again as usual.

Ok I understand that Paula

Ok I understand that Paula does not usually email her own translations to the italian subscribers but that Mauro does. Those of us who email their own translations experienced a problem with the mail server few weeks ago. That is why I was not sure what was going on.

Thanks Luus for clarifying.

Beloved Luus, I may missed

Beloved Luus, I may missed something! Is Paula all taken care of now?

Loving you all,

Gloria

I believe that things are

I believe that things are working 'normally' again for the Italian translations. I just want to know if I understood correctly that the translations are sent out from the forum after I have posted them there?? This is what makes me puzzled as in the past, translations were sent out evenif I only sent them to it [at] heavenletters [dot] org, and I think this is what caused the confusion in the first place.

Dear Paula,there seems to

Dear Paula,
there seems to be 3 different ways of operating the emailing of translations to the subscribers:

1) the first one, which obviously is yours, is to mail your translation to an email address, namely it [at] heavenletters [dot] org. It is a simple email which is received and retrieved by someone of the team of Heavenletters website. Let's say it is Mauro. Mauro takes your translation and pastes it in an old database which has the name of "forum". In your case, it is the italian forum. Mauro, Nancy and perhaps someone else do the same for the other languages. Once the translation is in the appropriate forum database, a copy of the translation is pasted in the "new" database which is the one in which are published the daily Heavenletters and also all the translations up to date (the database with all the country flags). And from this new database, a formatted email (with a website look) is generated via another program and another website and sent to the subscribers.

2) the second one is that some translators might post themselves their translations in the old database (that is the forum of their language). Then somebody else is responsible for pasting a copy of this translation in the new database and generates an email to the subscribers. Nancy, myself (and probably Mauro and who else?) does that kind of procedure for several languages. Nancy could give us her feed back on that.

3) the third one is that some translators do the whole process: they translate, post in the two databases and generate the emailing. This is what Theophil, Anneke, Luus, Jean-Christophe and myself (who else?) do.

Does it make it a bit clearer?

Dear Paula, as I see it, the

Dear Paula, as I see it, the problem was caused because I was the only one who knew about your vacation and not Mauro and Nancy who take care of sending your translations out. In the past few years, when I was not yet involved in this, I always knew when you would be on vacation from your posts on the forum.
It is important that we continue to post our translations in the "old" database, since the "new" database is not (yet) accessible to visitors, who may be looking for translations in their own language.
Normand's explanation may make more sense to you once you become familiar with the process of sending translations out yourself.
I myself take care of the Dutch and Chinese translations and always copy and paste the text from the old onto the new database.
The French are the only ones who do not post their translations in the old database any more and, dear Normand, we had a discussion about this before, I can tell you that both Dutch translators do not agree with your point of view, since the French translations now are only available to those who are subscribed to them and they will not be able to search for special numbers in their own language.
Maybe you will reconsider? :-)

Dear Luus, I continue (and I

Dear Luus,
I continue (and I never ceased) posting my translations in the old database. If you click on the Forum Topics List and type my name, you will see that all my translations are there.

Yet there is something I once reported to Santhan and that still doesn't show. If you put http://heavenletters.org/heavenletters-french in your browser you will see that the list of french Heavenletters stops at # 4581. I don't know why the list is jammed there. And all my translations are ticked "published" as long as the original HL is already published. My last one posted is #4658. Go and check. My translations are in the Forum Topics list but not in http://heavenletters.org/heavenletters-french.
I don't have any explanation for that.

When Chantal was translating HL in French I told Mauro, who was posting Chantal's translations, to post them in the old database. But for one reason or the other, it was not done.

Voilà.

That is funny! I was certain

That is funny! I was certain that you did not post them in the old database any more, only now and then. All other languages show when a new translation is posted but not the French. The last one under the French Heavenletters is of 11 weeks ago. However, I notice that you post your translations way before the Heavenletter in question is published and maybe this causes the problem. Better to ask Santhan about it.

I think you're missing the

I think you're missing the point, Luus. Before I noticed the problem in the french "forum", by default, the "published" box is automatically checked. And as soon as you click the submit button, the translation appears. It is when you uncheck the "Published" box, that it does not appear on the list. The problem was reported to Santhan a while ago.

Now, for some of the translations that I checked "Published" (before the original HL is published), they still don't appear in the list (while they should). I have to do that when I am in China because the Heavenletter website is blocked and I have to use my iPad to do all the operations and it is very hard to work in the different navigation windows only with your fingers. I can hardly access the buttons because the screen is not wide enough and there is no horizontal scrolling function.

Now I am more confused than

Now I am more confused than ever. I didn't understand a word of your explanations. Sorry, I am no computer expert!
I mainly use only Word.

This had me puzzled for a few moments too. When I clicked to edit the Heavenletter at the top of the list here: http://heavenletters.org/heavenletters-french - I noticed under publishing options, the box [x] - sticky, at the top of lists was checked. This means that the listing will place "sticky" Heavenletters at the top instead of the latest Heavenletter translations.

Dear EveryOne,

We had no idea that Paula was on holiday until just recently. I did not even think of looking in it@heavenl.... for translations. Everyone was concerned about what happened to Paula.

WELCOME BACK PAULA! I hope the vacation was awesome.

Normand, it has nothing to do with the new mail server. Nobody thought of looking in the it@heavenle... account. If we did, we would have found all those translations.

Folk, I'm super busy at work this time of year. Sorry for not answering all the comments.

Yes Santhan, it@heaven must

Yes Santhan, it@heaven must be looked at "manually" obviously.
Yet can you confirm that there is a problem in the http://heavenletters.org/heavenletters-french database? It has stopped at #4581 and I am at #4558.

I don't think it is a question of finding fault. But it helps us see how we are each operating in a slightly different manner and where the gaps in the system might be.
