Dear Gloria,
How have you been?
I need your help, please.
The excerpt below shows some specific expressions in English which I am finding trouble to translate:
"Life as you know it is a picture show. Picture show used to be an expression used for movies, yet moving pictures took over. Commonality made the choice. The expression picture show implies a still photo, whereas movies indicate pictures moving"
The text goes on comparing the the words picture and movies, as in stillness and movement.
I could not find similar words in Portuguese to express this idea. What I could think of is to compare the stillness of the pictures themselves to the movement of the films, but not the words.
What do you suggest?
Thank you so much for your support.
Love,

Dear Melissa, how nice to
Dear Melissa, how nice to hear from you!
Tell me if I so understand correctly. You understand completely the passage you asked about. This is not a question for you. Your question is how to translate the passage clearly into Portuguese. Is this right?
In thist case I have to rely -- and am happy to rely -- on your knowledge of Portuguese and your desire to translate as closely to God's original as you can. It's clear you want to make your best choice. I believe you are doing an excellent job. You are staying as close to the original as you can and still make sense for your readers.
I applaud you, Melissa. Thank you. Let me know that I've answered you question and your heart, okay?
I would like to ask all translators ifyou will kindly include the Heavenletter itself, showing the context so it's right there where I can see it without having to hunt for the context of the passage. I would be grateful. :) Love, Gloria
