Heavenletter #5159 What Do You Get When You Are the Fairest of All?
I wonder whether the second sentence in this pragraph is correct and whether it is possible that a purpose plays something. I would think that it should read: What purpose does tenseness serve?
You serve no purpose when you are uptight. What purpose does tenseness play? It does point out to you that you will do well to unwind. Of course, you have to let go of tension. With tension, you tie yourself up in knots. What is the point of doing this to yourself? No matter what is going on in your life, even when it is a life and death battle, tension isn’t your friend. Well, then, tension must be ego at work. Ego and tension do not stand anyone in good stead.

Hi Luus~ You are right that
Hi Luus~ You are right that the sense of this sentence is "What purpose does tenseness serve?" But as it is in English, I think most native Engish speakers would understand it that way like it is. There is another way of saying it possible, "What part does tenseness play?" This also means roughly the same, but it uses an expression from drama and acting. I think the way Gloria heard it just conflated those two ways of saying the same thing.
Unless and until Gloria says otherwise, I would translate it as if it said "What purpose does tenseness serve?" but leave the English as it is.
Thanks, Charles. I suspected
Thanks, Charles. I suspected that it might be like this, but now it is clear.
