I was curious to know whether the expression 'keep down on the farm' has some meaning I don't understand, as I can't find this expression anywhere:

You may have thought that keeping your heart down on the farm is
steadying, but, no, your heart is meant to take off.

There is an expression: You can't keep her down on the farm -- something like that. The daughter wants to go to the big city, let's say. Her parents want her to stay safe and close by on the farm. Well, they can't keep her there forever.

Something similar might be: You can't hold back the dawn.

So, we can't restrain our hearts forever. We have to let our hearts be free.

I don't have the passage in front of me, but I'm pretty sure that's the idea.
