Need help with the sentences below.
You are not to be the plaything of the weather any more than you are the spinning toy top of life.
What does "toy top of life" mean?
Also, what does this sentences mean?
Life is a mile a minute.

Dear Oldooz,
Although I know a short German word for "spinning top", it is not easy for me to give a definition. But here is what my dictionary says:
"A conical, spherical, or pear-shaped toy that with a quick or vigorous twist may be set to spin."
Try to find "spinning top" in your dictionary. A spinning top is a toy. I don't now why "toy" is written between "spinning" and "top". I gues you could just as well call it a "toy spinning top".
"A mile a minute" (= per minute) means very fast.
Bless you, Jochen. You can
Bless you, Jochen. You can always be counted on.
The toy top is another way of saying plaything. Of course, it is confusing when God says toy top. All tops are toys so far as I know!
Beloved Oldooz, thank you for translating and for asking.
I got the second sentence
I got the second sentence but still have a difficult time understanding the first one. I'll take time to ponder on it more and will return here again if I there will be any question.
Thank you both very much. :)
Beloved Oldooz, if the
Beloved Oldooz, if the sentence were simply: "You are not to be the plaything of the weather any more than you are the plaything of life." The weather does not have to affect our happiness. Nor does what life brings. We are not a toy that doesn't have a say.
Does that help?
Yes, Gloria... It's helpful.
Yes, Gloria... It's helpful.
Oh, if only I knew how to
Oh, if only I knew how to post pictures!
Berit, can you post a "Kreisel"? (Or even give us instructions on how to do it?)
Jochen... I think you could
Jochen... I think you could use "File Attachment" bottom, just above "preview and post comment" bottom.
Does it work for you?
Yes, Oldooz, I have tried
Yes, Oldooz, I have tried to. But when I do, I'm requested to insert the URL of the picture I want to post. Does that mean I can only post images from the internet that have a URL? What about things on my computer? Do they have URLs too? Where? I have seen people posting private photos – how do they do it? Ah, computer science! It's still nice to have them. And the internet. Hugs
OK. That means that you have
OK. That means that you have to upload them some where on the Internet, if you have a blog, or a hotmail or gmail account you can use their services. Or use one of the websites that offer free space for file sharing. I prefer to use hotmail or gmail services.. but still you can use this site: 4shared . com . After uploading your photo you can use the HTMLcode or the URL (give below the photo) to attach your picture to your message here.
Doesn't sound too
Doesn't sound too complicated. Thank you, Oldooz. Since I was able to upload my profile photo without ado, I thought it might be possible here too.
