Gloria to God:

Dear God, it would seem that You are my pleasure. Doing anything for You and HEAVEN, I am happy. But from other things I don't seem to get the joy from that other people seem to. I don't know what activity I really care about doing.

Like, Jon loves golf. Lauren loves everything out there. Nancy loves pottery and quilting and all social gatherings.

My question seems to be the opposite of Lauren's question. I don't relish life as much as You. You and to do for You are what I like. It's how it is, but life is to be enjoyed. Well, it's not that I don't enjoy the daily bits of my life, but they are not where my heart is.

God:

You are what you are. Get your joy from life the way you get your joy.

Gloria:

God, it is kind of like I don't want to go anywhere or do anything.

God:

Where can you go where I am not? I am with you where you are. You don't look for Me when you have Me.

Gloria:

It's not like I'm always exactly aware of the fullness of You.

God:

You wear a hat, but you are not always conscious of wearing a hat. Or a ring on your finger. Or joy in your heart. And, so, you are not always conscious of where you are.

When you are in your living room, you don't necessarily think, "Oh, boy, I'm in my living room." Or when you go into the kitchen, you don't say, "Wow, I'm in the kitchen"

You make the passage between rooms for a purpose. Going from room to room is not like a grand entrance in a stage play.

Follow your heart means follow your heart, not someone else's, not an imagined ideal, not even your own.

Love what comes to you.

There is no requirement of a per cent of joy that you must garner from this place or that, in that activity or another. There isn't even a requirement that you enjoy. If it becomes a requirement, how can joy enter?

Be. Just be.

I am glad your work for Me makes you aware of your happiness.

Gloria:

Yes. Okay, God, like some people love to exercise. Lately I can't seem to bring myself to exercise at all.

God:

If I were to say you exercise for Me, would that help? that I would like you to take a walk with Me? to go somewhere with Me? Will you take a walk with Me today?

I will remind you later to talk a walk with Me.

Gloria:

Thank You!

God:

Gloria, you take great joy in these writings. You even relish the typing, the data entry, receiving subscriptions, and all that.

Gloria:

I do. And I take joy in a rose in my garden. Whereas I want to do for You, I don't want to go out and weed any more or even water. Some of it is I feel pressed for time, but I know that's not all of it.

God:

Is your attention truly on Me, or is it on dissatisfaction with yourself?

Put your attention on Me. Put your attention back on Me.

Gloria:

Margaret is "demanding" an Ask God Writing Workshop! One is set for Sunday, October 10 and October 17.

God:

I called for the Workshop. And I will call the people to come. I will whisper, "Come to My workshop", and they will come.

How many would you like?

Gloria:

Ten.

God:

That is just the number I was thinking of.

Mother Divine:

What is in your heart right now, Gloria?

Gloria:

A kind of nothingness. It's good; it's not an emptiness. Ginger Poodle just came up to amuse me.

Mother Divine:

What is in her heart?

Gloria:

Contentment.

Mother Divine:

Let it be in yours. She enjoys whatever comes. She never thinks it is something else she should be having. She is content to be near you. Be content to be near God. Then whatever activity befalls, it is joy.

Stop asking yourself so many questions. Ask them of God.

Arm yourself with God. Adorn yourself with God. Receive God.

I would like to talk about surrender to God. Surrender does not mean obedience. It means: natural desire to do.

Humans do not want to be obedient. Following God, and obedience to God, are not the same.

God's one commandment is to enjoy. Obey Him in that. He calls you to Him. Obey your heart, and that is obedience to God's commandment that you enjoy.

When you are in joy, who commits a crime? Who steals, who covets, who murders? Be in joy, and God's Will be done.

Be in joy for its own sake. Joy waits on the sidelines like a wallflower, waits for you to ask it to dance.

What gives you joy? Do that.

If something you do does not give you joy, find the joy in it.

Gloria:

When I am in joy, God is in joy too. When I am unhappy, does that affect God?

Mother Divine:

God knows only joy because His heart is so full of love. There is no heart anywhere nor corner of the world heart where God finds not joy. God finds joy in every unfoldment of His creation.

God is a joymaker, a minstrel, a piper. Play along with Him. Accompany Him on His march of joy. No one likes to march alone. God wants everyone marching with Him, beating their drums, banging their cymbals, twirling their batons…
