Experiences from the "Come Play with Me" Godwriting workshop, Sat. Feb 27
God is so playful! It is always a delight to get together and share our Godwritng experiences.
I've only been Godwriting for a week now, and I see some changes already starting to happen. For example, over the years I have tried several times to get serious about journaling. Most of the time, I didn't know what to write and when I did get something down on paper, it didn't seem very significant. My Godwriting experience is different. I find that it is much easier to have a conversation with God than it is to write to a journal. I can talk to God about anything and God always has something valuable for me to hear.
I also noticed that my experience with Godwriting is different at different times. Sometimes it is like love letters between me and God. Sometimes it is very down to earth with practical advice on how not to take things too seriously. God is always kind and considerate, but surprising too.
One of the things I like about Godwriting is that it puts me in a frame of mind to connect all aspects of my life to God--the big things and the small things, the lovely love letters and the not so lovely complaints and irritations of life, the weariness of a challenging day at work as well as the joy of dancing the dance of life. The more I attend to God through Godwriting, the more often I am aware of the presence of God in my daily activity.
My experience of God's presence has become more frequent, or put another way, I am more present to the eternal presence of God in my life, and that is a tremendous gift and blessing from the Godwriting workshop. Thank you, Gloria and Santhan!
Beloved Sylvia, it is my
Beloved Sylvia, it is my most favorite thing to do -- to talk about God, to share with God and Godwriters like you.
I'm picking out just a few things from what you posted above that stir my heart:
I can talk to God about anything and God always has something valuable for me to hear.
God is always kind and considerate, but surprising too.
I am more present to the eternal presence of God in my life.
God bless you.
We came to play, and so did God.
Thanks for getting this thread started, Sylvia. It was a wonderful workshop, and I'm so glad I attended. It's precious beyond words to share in each other's intimate communion with God; to laugh and cry together when hearts are moved. Thank you all for sharing so openly. It is beautiful how God speaks not only through the pen to the individual, but to the whole workshop through each-other's voices. His words to one is a blessing for all in the room.
The quality of heart that Gloria and Santhan share may be the most important thing that makes this workshop flow into a sacred and safe space for such deep sharing. I love Gloria's playful laughter - the way she wrinkles her nose with bouncy chuckles of delight at the way life is and the way we are together. Santhan's big smile, rapt attention, and meticulously, lovingly prepared food nourishes body and soul. What a treat!
Gloria planned special guests to treat all our senses. In session one we had singing bowls, and in session two we had what we might call a God-Dancer who pulled us all into the glorious dance. The Godwriting that followed about the dance of life was poetic and delicious.
Yum yum! Let's do it again!
