control and expectation
Who Is Being Realistic Now?
When you say that life is hard, what you are really saying is that life does not always give you what you want or what you demand and insist on. Demand and insist all you want, and you show your belief in winning, and you show your belief in losing as well. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. When you venture, the venturing is your gain. That you applied yourself is your gain. In the going for, you gain.
When you can accept that life does not have to deliver what you order, how hard will life be then?
What if everything is all right as it is, even when it doesn't live up to your desires?
Where to Start
When things do not go right in your estimation, you were expecting something else. I have told you not to expect, but I do tell you to look ahead. Looking ahead is different from expecting. Start with what you want and how you want it, and work back from there.
If health is your issue, if you are in pain and bedridden, start from where you want to be, in good health and freed from your bed.
Don't start from where you are now. That will keep you where you are. That will keep you in the pain-ridden bed.
You must step out of your circumstances. In your mind, step out.
Expectation vs. Free Will
Others' expectations of you are their expectations. You can try your whole life to fill others' expectations and not fill them. You have tried. That is what you have been doing. You have made others' expectations yours, as though you were a slave to others' wishes and were obliged to obey.
You have not always been conscious of this. You thought your thoughts were your own, but many or most of your thoughts have been adopted. Better to adopt Mine.
When you were a child, you had to do what someone told you to do. You were penniless and dependent for everything.
