Birth Chimes
Burlington hospital and Clinics in Iowa has a wonderful way to greet newborn babies. Every time a child is born, beautiful brief chimes are played over the PA system.
I was there last Thursday when the chimes sounded 3 times at different intervals. I noticed that every time the chimes sounded, the faces of the patients, Drs. and staff broke into a smile. I found myself smiling spontaneously too. For a brief moment that irrepressible joy of new life held sway over all of us. I thought: what a wonderful thing it is for each baby to be acknowledged with a smile, not only by family and friends, but by strangers too. It doesn't matter that the babies can't see the smiles. The welcoming vibration will find its way to them..
As Tobias Willims wrote: " The Almighty can be found in all smiles of joy." And you can find HIM in the smiling faces at the Burlington, Iowa, Hospital and Clinics each time a new babe is born.

Born in a manger or in a hospital, born to wealth or born to poverty, your birth was auspicious. Now it needs to be known as so. You need to know so.
