Accounting Isn't Living

God said:

Do you have that sense of something wonderful about to occur?

Something wonderful is occurring right now. It started long ago, and you are just beginning to see what has been going on all along.

There isn't anything new. Your rewards are nothing new. All the fruit-bearing trees were planted long ago. And now new fruits appear. But within the seed of the tree the fruit existed. The fruit exists even before it is ready to be picked from the tree. It does not appear in one instant. And some fruit-trees bear fruit sooner, and some later. Truly the fruition was built in the moment the seed took form. It did not even have to wait until it was planted.

Your thoughts are like that. They conceive of something before the result appears. But the result was bonded to the idea. The result was conceived. It doesn't appear out of nowhere. It comes from somewhere.

This does not mean that you can account for things. Your trying to account for everything is a waste of your energy. Oh, you will find explanations. But at the same time, there are no explanations. There is no explanation good enough. You cannot trace your good fortune back to the beginning. You can't even say you earned it. Or that someone else did not.

Certainly, you can find things that led to your good fortune, but are they the cause? What you single out to observe may be a coincidence or concurrent happening, just the way you drive in a car and another cars pulls up next to you. You cannot say that the car pulled up because you were there. You cannot say that you made that car or another appear. You cannot say you made a red car instead of a black car appear. There isn't much you can say about anything with authority.

In one sense, everything is connected to everything else. In another sense, nothing may be a consequence of the threads you happen to see and pick up.

There is much that is beyond your futile explanations.

And what do you have to know for anyway?

You live life. Thinking about your life is not the same as living your life. Living is not a mental exercise. You cannot postulate every move you will make. Plans are only plans. Thoughts are only thoughts. Living is another story.

The sun does not calculate its dawning. It dawns.

The moon doesn't measure distance nor the light it reflects. The moon simply reflects.

Yet you may think you are supposed to predict your future life and justify your past. In that case, where is the place in your life for the present?

A flower doesn't plan its blooming nor its fading. It blooms. It fades. When it blooms it blooms. When it fades, it fades. Regardless of what goes on with its surface bloom, a flower is always reaching for the sun. It neither blames nor credits itself. It is a flower.

Do you really think that you are the one who grows a flower or conceives a child? Do you really think it's your doing? Do you really think you are the author of it?

You can tend the field and the cattle, and you can tend them well, and they thrive. But their thriving is dependent upon more than your efforts. You know there is something more going on. And that is enough to know. And that is about the gist of it.

Be a boon to creation. Be present in it. Do not be ahead of it nor behind it. Be it. Be. Be now.
