Sometimes you are like a train chugging up a hill, pulling a load that is too heavy. And yet, even so, despite your thoughts and fears, despite everything, you manage to reach the top.

If you had known you could and would reach the top and get to the other side, would you have been so out of breath? If you had known, could you have taken time to look at the scenery? Even to stop a while to rest by a flower-filled meadow, pick some, and put them in a glass? What is the gain of chugging heavy-hearted up a steep-seeming hill when you can just as well travel lightheartedly up the same hill?

Perhaps you do too much weighing and too much looking over your shoulder. Perhaps looking back holds you back, and looking at the incline of the hill before you puts a scare into your heart.

A train runs on steam, but not you, beloved. You run on love. The track you ride on is love. All energy is love. It is not by dint of effort and will that you run. It is by virtue of love. Nothing is hard, and everything is easy with love. Let love be your will. Will love into existence, so that all burdens will be light and, therefore, no burdens will be.

What if you did not carry great weight in life? What if you carried no weight at all?

Weight is an idea of the mind. Love, which is from the heart, carries no weight. It simply has itself to carry, and it weighs nothing. Lighthearted means to be full of love, for love, of course, weighs nothing. You have had those moments when you felt lighthearted and carefree. Be carefree now. Carefree means to be without burdensome thoughts. If you are going to do something, why not do it with a light heart? And why not with a lighted heart? A lighted heart is lit with love. Love shines brightly. Love leaves no corners for darkness. Love sheds light on everything. Let your love shed light wherever it falls, and let it fall everywhere, including on yourself.

You do not need to pump yourself up. Love will carry you. It will buoy you. Do you not know that you are buoyed by love?

The mind is like an old pump. It pumps, and it drags. It goes up and down. It gives you hope, and it takes it away. It gives you fear and doubt and disappointment and all manner of things that you can do very well with without.

The heart is a different kind of pump. Love issues from the heart, but it needs no pump. The heart is more like a spigot, and it only needs to be turned on. Turn on your heart today so that love may flow from it. Whatever your present mood may be, even if you are in despair, open wide the spigot of your heart and let your love out. What are you keeping it for? Until you feel better?

Turn it on now, and you will feel better. Turning your heart on will lift your mood. Many things will come to open your heart. Money may come. A smile may come. A kind word. A letter in the mail. A celebration may come. A promise. A kiss. But whatever comes, all it does is turn your heart on. You can turn it on now and more of everything will come because your heart is open and flowing in love.

You are not a heavy-loaded train. You do not have to ride on tracks. You are more like a lovely ship buoyed by the Sun and Sea and the call of its destination.
