The Passing Shores

God said:

Listening to your heart does not mean that you do not listen to what others say. Listen, reflect, absorb, then keep or let go.

It doesn't mean to hold on to what you thought because you thought it and it is therefore precious to you. Following your heart doesn't mean to always have your own way.

It is not always noble to choose what you want. Nor is it ignoble in matters of the world to choose what works differently or better. Be open to new vision. You have perhaps kept yours long enough.

You are in a habit of thinking certain ways about certain things. If you must think the same way, what room to grow have you given yourself. Give yourself choice.

What is it you want? If you want to be right in your own eyes, you will find justification. Don't let justification be an excuse for staying the same.

If you find yourself surrounded by people who do not listen, perhaps — I say just perhaps — you are one who does not listen. Not listening is the same as not wanting to change.

Do not be so sure that you always know the answers. When it comes to life, no one is an expert, not even you.

Let others finish speaking before you draw your conclusions. One of your purposes in life is to let others speak. When you listen to another, you are giving a great gift. When someone talks to you, they are not yearning for your answer. They are yearning to be heard.

Yearn to listen. You may well know more than they do. On the other hand, perhaps the most ignorant person on earth knows something you don't. In any case, you are one who is learning to listen.

Being confident doesn't mean that you are always right. Be confident that you can listen to another and still be true to yourself.

Having a closed mind is not a wonderful thing.

Be a listener for one day. Find out the great secrets of life. You have perhaps talked enough for a lifetime. Hone the skill of listening.

Answers have been handed to you right and left, and you didn't catch them.

Listen with your eyes as well. Perhaps you will see something you have never seen before.

Of course, it is your heart that you listen and see with.

Perhaps you hesitate to let anything more into your heart. Perhaps you are afraid it can be damaged. Perhaps you feel you have too much there already and cannot accommodate one more thing.

But listening and seeing will empty your heart of what has been crowding it. Listening and seeing are the cures for a weighted heart.

Perhaps you have been talking with your mind and not your heart. Perhaps you have been talking from the top of your head and not from the depth of your heart.

What is so precious about staying the same?

When you are in a boat on the river of life, you travel. You row the boat and you see what's along the passing shores. You do not require yourself to see what you have always seen there. You are open enough to observe what appears along the way.
