What you say your priorities are and what you spend your time on may not be the same. See if you can get them closer together. You may say your priority is to serve Me — and please know I welcome any and all service you give — and yet you fret your life with diversions that you really don't want and are not valuable to you.

Please do not think I am suggesting that you abandon relative life. I am suggesting that within your relative life, you have choices. Adhere to the ones you like. Remember to put love at the top of your list, because you do indeed enjoy it.

Perhaps start your day with a thought like this:

"Whatever I do today, I do it with love. Whatever comes to me today, I receive with love.

"If I am a bill collector, I send love beforehand to those whom I collect from. If I am the dunned one, I send love forth to those who dun me. There never is an excuse for my being absent from the intention of love.

"If I am a schoolteacher, I love children with all their foibles, as they are. I love the children who cannot sit still as well as I love those who do not stir. I do not impose arbitrary restrictions. I give these budding souls room to be.

"If I am an employer, I employ hearts and souls to the best of my ability and to the best of theirs. This is not sacrificing profit. I know well that it profits me to honor those who work for me. I work for them as well.

"If I am an employee, I do not have to see my employer other than as a Human Being who has more responsibility than I.

"If someone or something disturbs me, my wife, my child, my dog or cat or parrot, I will remember they are my beloveds. I never need be impatient nor sharp. I remember that I am a Being of Love.

"Wherever I happen to be, whatever my title, whatever my function, I possess a higher function, and that is to stand in love.

"If I am a policeman, I can arrest with love in mind and You, God, by my side. By the power of my thought, I can create order. I am a maker of peace.

"If I am a prison warden, I can have the intention of love toward those who are under my care. You, God, have given them to me to care for in Your name. You are the assigner. No one else is.

"And if I am a prisoner, no matter what conditions, I find myself in, I am nevertheless here to glean and give love. I do not wait for my circumstances to change. What else is there for me to do but learn love? And what better place could I learn it in, for love is stronger than anything. It is certainly stronger than iron bars and the judgments that surround me.

"You, God, have given everyone to be in my care. There is no one in Heaven or earth who is not in my care. I affect and am affected by all thoughts. Heretofore, I shall make my thoughts blessed. In so doing, I will love myself, for I have been the hardest of all for me to love. I have often talked harshly to myself, and now I will honor myself as I would honor others. I too deserve to be well-cared for and well-talked to. I will give to myself all that I desire to give to others. To myself I give an extra dollop so that I will never forget that I am here to love. No matter what guise I appear in, from what direction I face, I am here to love. Even when I cannot feel loved, I can give it, for love is bigger than my perceived individuality.

"I announce love to myself. I announce love to myself right now. I will never convince myself again that I am without it.

"To others, my love does not have to be announced, for I am not a talker of love but a giver. I am a giver of that which I am. I give in passing. Even in a hurried crowd, I give love. Even in the midst of unending love, I give love."
