Question concerning Diane and Molly

Dear Gloria
could you kindly explain to me what "lay service" is. Diane was preparing for her lay service. Is it the service in Church help by a priest connected with the burial ? she tells about quotes coming directly from God in heavenletters.

As we learn later, Diane wants to become a minister.

To the best of my recollection, this service that Diane will be giving has no connection to Molly's burial. This is months later. Again, as I remember, she asked God to help her with the service she will be giving. In any case, she went to Heavenletters to find good material for the service.
