Peter Pan

Who is this man?
Do you believe it true?
Could he be?
Peter Pan?

Once a boy with not a care in the world
Who freely flew
From tree to tree
Spinning, gliding
Just happy to Be

Now this man
A shadow of Self
Has grown out of his clothes
Into a suit
Forgetting his truth
Unaware he can fly
Just trying to survive
Or to conquer the world
To achieve pertinent goals
At the very least, to get by

So this boy
Playing the part of a man
Is all "grown up"
Highly trained
Schooled in the "art" of supply and demand

With headlines to read and deadlines to meet
He works and works and works
Lest he be left behind
In case he's too slow
To be ahead of the race
In the dash for success
Adhering to the curriculum
Obedient to the chase

Now, with no wings to soar
Though they still be there
He begins to question and speak
Of something amiss
Of, "what more?"
A memory not quite fully forgotten
A story, a "tale' of a boy's perfect bliss

He, again, wakes in the dawn
To meet another day
To fulfill his training
And to help where he can
Yet his primary function
Of becoming
Still remains the primary plan

Yet, now, something curious begins to take place
Though the days go by
Similar to before
All blending into the other
He begins to remember
Little by little and then, all at once
Of a time beyond when
Of a space beyond place
Where children play
Just to have fun

"Fun!...Fun!" he exclaims
"What a great idea
I think it's time
To change my plan
To have no plan
So I can take part
Like the birds in the air
That fly through the sky...
I'll open my heart!"

And so this boy
Who once was a man
Is at it again
With nothing left to do in order to be
Only to Be:)
Only to Be:)

This is Peter Pan
The Boy and the Girl
Within You
Within Me
The Child
Awake and Alive
Within each one and all
Flying...
With the greatest of ease
Soaring...
Jumping...
Tumbling...
Unconfined...

With no need of trapeze
Only Free!
Only Free:)
