Around Every Corner, Opportunity Awaits You

God said:

You may need a break from responsibility for a while. Even if your work is the dream of a lifetime, you may still need a day off from it. All of your life is your responsibility. There is something waiting for you to make happen. You don't know what. You have taken your responsibility seriously. It may mean everything to you. You may feel indispensible.

It's not that you think the world wouldn't go on without you. Of course, the world finds a way to go on without you. Perhaps it is you who can't quite get along without your work. You don't remember what a vacation is any longer because of your involvement in work. There is more to life than all work or all play.

Meanwhile, it behooves you to get along without work every now and again, particularly when you feel work hanging over you. Sometimes you need a new perspective in recognition of yourself and your identity apart from your work. Sometimes you really desire to just be yourself, even when you are unsure what being yourself means. You may wonder who you really are. Is work your I.D.?

Are you perhaps something other than work or any other title assigned to you? Perhaps you are beyond any title assigned to you or that you assign to yourself. You also exist without a title.

If your work is pounding nails, take a break from pounding nails. There is no question about it. As it is, a bell rings, and you are off to work.

When your work is more mental or your work is more monumental than anything else in the world, you may be forgetting your own self. Even your little self counts. For the good of your Self, you may also do well to honor a contrast. You do exist independent of your work, your career, your mission, your duties, and whatever may be expected of you, or that you expect so earnestly of yourself.

It has been said that there is a season for everything.

It may behoove you to listen to life. Perhaps life wants to shake you up, get you out of the old stirrups. Perhaps your taking a break for a while is what the great work you set sail for requires. Maybe you require some fresh eyes. You do not desert your ship by going on a cruise once in a while. Did you hear someone say that time-off is not for you?

Perhaps it is you who declares that time-off is not for you. I am certain I did not appoint you to be a work-horse. It may well be that your duty is to take a time-out and reconfigure yourself.

Of course, while you are on Earth, there is no break from life. You are riding in a ship from which there is no departing until you trade in that ship for a different sojourn altogether, and you take your leave of this human life for a while or forever. Either way, it is good.

Would that there were not labels for work or play. Or, what if work were named play? Wouldn't work be different! When it's play, you don't have to show up. You are not under orders. Play is seen as more free-play. Work is seen as obligatory.

Often I talk to you about letting go of boundaries. This is what a vacation is for, to not hold so tight to one restriction or another. Focus serves, and letting go of boundaries also serves.

I ask you to serve. I do not ask you to overwork.

Work and business serve, and time off also serves. When there is a call for freedom, answer it. Sail on a different kind of High Sea for a while, and you will find a new aspect of yourself that will free you and serve Me succinctly and auspiciously. Opportunity awaits you around every corner.
