The Greatness You Own
It may be you have thought that carefree means careless. Carefree means without attachment. Carefree is not careless. Carefree simply doesn't hold on. It lets go.
Caring, as you know it, is often attaching. You attach your heart and tether it, when by their very nature, heart and its object must be allowed to be free. You can have great love in your life. It is My desire that you do, yet what you love, you have but do not own. You do not possess. Attaching is owning. Attaching is controlling. It is fear of letting go.
When you create art or music, with all your heart, you love what you create. It came from you, but it is not yours. It is a gift that came to you, and it is a gift you give. And that is how everything in life is. It is just something you pass along. There is nothing to keep, because the concept of keeping is the same as the concept of closing down, stopping movement, holding it in place, keeping it captive, chaining it, enclosing it, making it immobile.
All that comes to you is not yours. It is in your hand. It is beside you. It is near you. It is in view. But it is not yours. Treasure without keeping. A diamond in a glass case is not more of a diamond or more yours encased than when it is loose on the table. Everything in the world is as much yours as it is anyone's. The enjoyment is yours for the taking, but not that which gives you enjoyment.
Going to a play is a good parallel. You go to it. You watch it. You like it very much. It plays itself in front of you. And then you leave the theatre. You remember the wonderful play you immersed yourself in. But it never was yours to confiscate. You leave it. You take fondness of it in your heart. In the heart is where all transactions take place, and that is where they are left to be free. The heart does not bind. It releases. The pulse of the heart is movement, or else it clogs.
Be carefree today. Love wherever you are and whatever comes to pass, and then pass by it. You are a stroller through life, not a whip master.
It is enough that you witness glory. You do not package it. You do not take it home with you. You do not frame it nor glorify it.
But I — ah! — I am a different story. I am yours. Take Me everywhere. I leap with you. I Who am everywhere am to be left nowhere. I am total accompaniment. All have Me. I am not in pieces, but I am all over the place. No one is without Me. I am as close to being owned as anything you will ever know. I ask you to own Me. As you own Me, you free yourself.
Carefree is knowing Me very well. You cannot be careworn and know Me. You are careworn when you rely on yourself. My shoulders are wide. I carry everything, but I know no burden.
Perhaps you are one of those people who can't let anyone else help you. You feel you have to carry all the packages. You feel you have to do all the work. You feel that the world cannot stand up without you. But you are meant to be burdenless. You are meant to be like Me, where all is light, and nothing is heavy. Leave your concerns. Free yourself. Own Me.
