The Glorious Moment of Wanting
Let your heart be full and not so set on something. Often, when your heart feels set on something, it is you set on having your own way. Sometimes you have to let it be satisfactory that there was something you wanted. You don't have to have it. Your life does not depend upon it. Your well-being does not depend upon it. Enjoy that you wanted it, whatever it was. You owned the desire. You do not have to own the product.
There is a difference between crave and desire. Craving is often that you want something because you want it. The thing itself doesn't mean so much to you as the granting of your wish does. You want to be a favored being on earth. You want that all you want be granted to you. You do not want to be denied anything because being denied, to you, means you are not as favored as you feel you must be.
You long for that sense of favor more than the object or event. You want your will to be done.
Forget the whole concept of your being denied anything. You are always being favored. But that is not the same as getting your way. If you always got your way, what would you be like? Very commanding, I am sure. Wouldn't you take your way as your due? Have you not? One way or another, your ego gets in the way. It already has.
Sometimes it's okay to let go of a desire. Perhaps you desire a job, and you desire a particular job, and you don't get it. It goes to someone else. You have to let it go. It wasn't yours. That's okay. You are not more with that job or less without it. You just don't know what lies before you. Perhaps you are at a turn in your life, one you hadn't thought of.
You simply cannot know what is a favor to you. By the same token, you do not know what is not. You don't know the difference. So be glad when something comes to you, and be equally glad when it doesn't. Or, at least, don't be so dismayed.
There may not be room in your life for everything you want. There may not be room in your house. Consider that you really win when there is something that does not come into your possession. You do not need to win every perceived race in the way you thought. You do not need to seek to be the winner. Winning is such a fleeting thing, and often it simply isn't worth it. What you win may turn to powder in your hand. You win nothing. You have everything.
And yet it is glorious to have the moment of wanting. Want without having to have. There is only one thing you have to have, and that you already have. You do have Me in your corner. You do have Me on your side. You do have Me urging you on, and sometimes urging you to stop a while. You do not know the arithmetic to count your blessings. You just can't count that far. And you don't know when it's right for another blessing to assume its rightful place.
Do not feel in life that you have to make up for anything, even if you were denied it in the past. Because you had no bicycle as a child doesn't mean you must have two now.
I suggest that you make a blessing out of all that comes or does not come to you. It is all the same. You are a blessed being on earth. Don't force the tide, nor stem it. Keep going forward and hold on to nothing. Let go of everything, and that way all will be before you.
